Hey guys, I have formed a team of swimmers to do the Puget Sound Blood Center Swim for Life event. We're going to plunge into the murky depths of Lake Washington to swim the 2.5 miles from Medina to Madison Park in a few weeks to raise money to get more donors on the bone marrow registry. Don't worry... I am not hitting you up for money! We are sorely lacking a kayaker to escort us on this epic journey and the rules are clear: no boat, no swim. So, I'm putting out all the feelers I can for a kayaker. Anyone capable and interested? Or know anyone who might be?
It's on Wednesday 8/15, so it's a perfect excuse to take the day off work! But we should be done swimming by 9am, so maybe you wouldn't have to take the day off! I can't think of anything else that would be exciting about this! Except, you know, getting out on the lake to row for a good cause.

We kayak! I haven't been out since before Inez, though, and am probably pretty out of practice. But 2.5 miles is a very doable distance. Hmmm. The logistics of babysitting plus getting my kayak over there and back by myself are kind of daunting...
I would volunteer Tony but he'll be out of town.

Aw, too bad Tony's not around. But yeah, boat, kid, ferry, early morning... yikes.
I think I might have found someone. He hasn't said yes, but I think he's amenable to wheedling, whining and begging...

I know you're all dying to find out! We have a kayaker!
Now I just have to steel myself to actually swim 2.5 miles... (that's longer than an Ironman swim, btw.)
