There has never been a thread about Android apps.
So far the only app i've paid for is the Happy Cow app, i'm nervous about buying others because being paid apps doesn't mean they're good. Also, when I was using my father-in-law's ipod, I got attached to some apps that aren't on Android. So here's what i'm looking for:
A spanish learning app that's a game, because I can hammer on a game app for five hours a day so I might as well learn something. Any photo apps that are actually worth money. I use photoshake to make collages but it's not so great I want to upgrade, and PicStitch isn't available. A sudoku game that won't give me porn ads. Sigh.

I mostly have really practical apps on my droid. Tumbler, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, all the companies I pay money to that have apps, my banks, Amazon, Target, Good Reads, Weather, Youtube, Wikipedia, my pharmacy, Meetup.com, Zillow and that's pretty much it. I used to play Draw Something but it was taking up too much space so I deleted it. Most of the vegan apps I found either sucked or I never used. So I deleted all those too.
Really hope PPK comes up with an app though, that will be mega awesome!
I just got a new droid yesterday and am still dealing with quirks. But I have to say that the Google Play Store thing works pretty well. It saves a list of every app you have ever downloaded so you have a record of it. It came in handy when switching phones.

Oh a daily basis I use: MyFitnessPal, a nutrient tracker. There's a full website too. MLB At Bat Lite, baseball scores/news/schedules. Nice when I can't watch the game. Color Note, checklist and memo pad. Keeps me organized!
All these are free apps.

Sometimes I prefer looking at things on my computer. I was really into ___With Friends and Draw Something and it became too much to keep up with. Also Draw Something stopped working on Brian and I's game and i'm still mad at it.

My draw something app stopped working after a while too. I would draw something and then have to do it five more times and it would never get to the person.

The Retro Camera app is kind of fun. I've found the kitchen timer app to be really handy, especially if I'm in a room away from the kitchen and can't hear the timer in there. I use the Inkpad app to write notes or make grocery lists. My dumb old phone doesn't have a built-in option to let me save photos sent by text message, so I use the Save MMS app to download photos that I want to keep.
Also, if you use Chrome as the web browser on your computer, you can install the Chrome to phone app. It's handy for sending links and pictures between your computer and phone.

The Vegan Eating Out app is good enough, and free. It's nice to be able to see what I can (or can't) eat when relatives drag me out to Applebees or wherever.
I also love Silent Time which lets me selectively screen sounds at various times (ie, my phone no longer rings when certain relatives call during hours I've asked them not to call, but calls from my husband can still go through).

I just found out that Zippo lighter has a free app! Good for karaoke nights. The only app I use on a regular basis is the Cozi app, which is an online calendar. Both Ryan & I can post to the calendar, and choose if the appointment is for me, him, or "all". Of course there's a website, which I found easier to set up our account http://www.cozi.com. Ryan also showed me the Norton Utilities app (search the Play store for "app killer" and it should come up). It allows you to 'kill' the apps that run in the background & waste the battery. I just checked it & had nothing open but 14 apps were running.

It's not a "fun" app, but I really like swiftkey compared to the stock android keyboard. It gives much smarter predictions if you rely on those. Also, the number one fix for an app that suddenly stops working is to go to settings>applications find the app and clear the data. It has unstuck facebook and hootsuite for me many times over.

The Amazon 'App Store for Android' has a free app a day, sometimes I've gotten some pretty cool and expensive apps free, like Audubon Birds (usually 10 bucks) and Executive Assistant (office apps). Mostly they have games, though (today's was a slot machine game).
I'm bad about apps though, I don't use any for long unless it's my clock or calander app, and games I take off after a few days. My friend got his first smartphone this weekend and I couldn't think of any to tell him he needed. The sales person suggested Pandora which he now loves, but I can't use at home because of my sucky service. It was ad heavy though for the free version.

I've had good luck with a couple of free Sudoku apps. This is the one I've got on my phone right now and I've never gotten porn ads on there. The only disadvantage is it only has one game per level per day (it downloads new games daily), but I never end up playing for that long. I had another one on my old phone that had more games per level, but I can't find it right now. Will update if I can find it. Other apps I've got and use regularly: Whatsapp, Wordfeud, Draw Something, Classic Words Free, E Numbers, Kindle, Zite, and Pocket (formerly Read It Later). And a bunch having to do with both local and national public transport. Oh, and a bunch of birding/twitcher apps but I don't use those daily.

Spotify (will soon give access to sync up/use from Android) Zedge - large selection of notifications, ringtones, wallpapers and what not Dropbox - nice file/photo/music sharing app MP3 Ringtone Maker - cuz who doesn't love chopping up their favorite snippets to make ringtones & notifications? Audible Groupon Instagram
I'm always on the look for new stuff to tinker with and will check that retro camera app that was mentioned.

Grand Theft Auto 3! I think it's like $5, but it's totally worth it if you're into GTA. I got bored with Draw Something pretty fast. I've also got a kitchen timer and chess on there.

Has anyone else tried Waze? It's a social GPS, and by social I mean you can have friends and see strangers and where they are. You can use it to make reports of slow traffic or accidents or police. You get points for how much you drive, and there are rewards for making reports and submitting map corrections. They put candy on the roads for points, and I think they use that as an incentive to use certain roads. I haven't used it much to navigate but it's supposedly learns your favorite routes and tries to improve upon them.
It's kind of neat!

Sorry, mbm, I don't have any of the apps you're after but I do like the idea of a language game app, if anyone knows of one in French, lemme know Apps I use daily: UberSocial (previously Twidroid but I had to switch) Yahoo mail Dropbox (file sharing) My Days (used for charting my cycle) Out of Milk (shopping lists) Astrid Tasks (to do lists) Timeriffic (sets the volume at different levels for day and night) Not used daily: Flickr (the app is great) Goodreads (I'm not a huge fan of the app and usually open the website in Chrome instead) Zedge (ringtones, message tones) Ringdroid (makes ringtones out of songs) TripAdvisor (planning on using it when I book my US trip) Imitation Of Chris wrote: It's not a "fun" app, but I really like swiftkey compared to the stock android keyboard. Jetpack Joyride is now available for Android, except only through the Amazon appstore, which is a mild inconvenience if you don't already have the Amazon Appstore installed. But it's pretty fun, in that Canabalt/Battletoads jet bike kind of way. There is persistence to it in that the coins you collect accumulate and can be used to buy better starting gear and whatnot.
Humble Bundle for Android 3 is still on sale for 2 more days! Spacechem (tablet only), Uplink (tablet only), Fieldrunners, Osmos, Anomaly, Edge, World of Goo, Bit.Trip Beat, and Spirits at the low, low price of pay-what-you-want! Some of them are only available if you pay higher than the average, but that's only around $7 last time I looked. And you get the Android versions, and Mac, PC, and Linux versions as well!

I have a boring job, and like to play games on my droid. And I am cheap and hate paying for apps.
Right now totally addicted to Word Hero. It is kinda like scramble with friends, except you play in leauges instead of one-on-one. And you dont have to wait or pay for coins or any stupid stuff like that. You can start groups there if you want.
ZombieVille is also fun. Tons of solitare games.
I am very VERY tempted to buy plants vs. zombies. I have beaten it 903840394 times on my Ipad, but I just dont wanna pay for it! has anyone used it?
The Reddit and Pinterest apps are pretty good too, if you are into that.

It's kind of neat! I currently drive a taxi for a living. Waze got me hopelessly lost in downtown Detroit late on a Friday night - not somewhere or somewhen you want to be when you are OBVIOUSLY not from Detroit. Then Waze got so stuck on recalculating my route that it locked up my Android solid for eight minutes (well...I was also driving through unfamiliar, hostile territory and was avoiding coming to a complete stop, too, so that contributed to the time factor). I managed, completely by feel, to yank the battery, wait 90 seconds, and replace it. My phone came back on, I fired up Google Navigation, spoke my destination, and was on the freeway back to Ann Arbor in three minutes. I deleted Waze with extreme prejudice once I got home. I cannot recommend it for use in unfamiliar areas. Free apps I use often: Avast! Mobile Security ColorNote ConvertPad (measurement conversions of all kinds) Handcent AndChat Bubble (a bubble level) Google Navigation Scanner Radio (radio scanner app that gets its feed from radioreference.com) Solitaire Alarm Clock Xtreme Free Paid apps I use a lot: WeatherBug Elite Tapatalk Pulse News Titanium Backup (requires rooting your phone)

I love the ColorNote app. It keeps me so organized! I have 3 going on the home screen of my phone at all times. Grocery list, weekly dinners list, and a to do list. I do them in checklist form and then check things off when I'm done and then when I'm all finished I start over again.
Not really cool or fun, but it's the little things.

Yeah, I'm kind of over Waze. It was neat, but, like you said, not entirely reliable, and I think it sucks down more battery than Google Navigation.
