My man is making vegan doughnuts as I type this. He isn't even veg himself, so it's pretty cool that he has the energy to go through the process. He even bought a doughnut cookbook (mostly non-vegan recipes, but there is a vegan one that can be adapted for use elsewhere). Looks like there is a hole in the market cookbook authors! Hint, hint!
Anyway, the house is filling with the smell of oil, as he's frying them the good 'ole fashioned, unhealthy but delicious way. I tried 2 of his glazed doughnut holes so far and they were mighty fine!
I just wanted to share that. Anyone else make doughnuts recently? I'm too lazy to do it myself.

I'm not a fan of deep frying, so I've never made them, but I bet fresh home made doughnuts are delicious. I'd be really happy if someone made them for me. Lucky you! Take some pictures and put them up in food porn please!

Awesome! I've wanted to make doughnuts for a while, and after seeing this recipe I think I am going to make them very, very soon.

So the doughnuts were so good. I had about 2 doughnuts in total and 2 doughnut holes. He brought the rest into his job to show off his skillz and they were devoured (and these were all non-vegans mind you!). He didn't even mention they were vegan either.
The only downside was that he cooked them a little too long in the oil and some of them were a tad greasy. The whole house smelled like oil, which did kinda gross me out, but they were very, very tasty overall. I don't think I've ever had a homemade doughnut before either.
When I finally get motivated enough to download my pictures, I'll post something on food porn. He'd like to make chocolate doughnuts for me one day and has even talked about trying to replicate some of the Voodoo Donuts from Portland as well.
