I suppose this is a better excuse than someone doing it because their body is telling them that they need bacon...but I just don't get how someone can be vegan for decades and then go back to eating bacon. I mean for forks sake -- pigs are as smart as toddlers!

My anecdotal experience has been that more long-term vegans go back to eating meat than long term vegetarians (and if the vegetarians do so they tend to make smaller changes -- e.g. pescatarian/flexitarian). I suspect that if vegans were more accepting of near-vegans or "paris exemption" vegans there would be less long-term recidivism.

That is so weird that he'd give it up just because someone made him a sandwich. I can't imagine not being a vegan and I've only been vegan for 12 or 13 years.

That is one seriously lame excuse for giving up veganism.

I think anyone who drops veganism clearly never really got it in the first place - I take the straight edge line on the whole selling out issue i.e. 'If you're not now you never were'.

Sometimes people just change their minds! People pull this line with me all the time because I am not a Christian anymore, and I find it frustrating and hurtful.

Going around judging people is too exhausting.

Anyway, 20 yrs of being vegan is certainly better than 0 years. One bacon sandwich today doesn't discount all the bacon sandwiches not eaten over 20 years.

And that's why I don't date super models.

It doesn't sound like her "fault" though. The article makes it sound like she made him one sandwich, not knowing he was vegan, and he just said "ok" and chowed down.

Yeah - if someone (anyone) walked into my living room right now and offered me, I don't know, a turkey club sandwich, that doesn't mean that I would just eat it.

Actually, the part of this story that strikes me as weirdest is the idea that Kate Moss has ever been in the same room as bacon, let alone cooked it herself. Curiouser and curiouser.

he probably liked her so much that he didn't want to damage the chance of more dates with her by seeming fickle. :-/

(and it's possible she just thought hipster! i must make a bacon sandwich for him.) it kind-of reminds me of the gift of the magi. (the wife selling her hair for a pocketwatch chain, and the husband selling his watch for hair combs.)
