Has anyone grown chickpeas? I'm growing black chickpeas that I got from supercarrot, I think. Got 6 plants. Since we've had very little rain perhaps I'll get something. I read online that they don't like water when they bear pods.

Des anyone have any experience/pointers? The flowers are really cute.

I haven't ever done it, but I'm hoping someone else replies because I'd love to try growing them sometime and tips would be nice...

I was going to try this year but never got around to it. Next year for sure. If you can give us updates, that'd be neat. There's very little info about growing chickpeas.

Have you ever tried eating them fresh? Very yummy.

I have grown them on patio and they were very easy although a long growing crop. If you live in a very warm area you will want to plant in partial shade, otherwise plant in full sun. They can be fickle with water, you don't want too much water from overhead as the pods can fall off this way.

Harvest to Table has a very comprehensive reference page: http://harvesttotable.com/2009/04/how_t ... _garbanzo/

And Vegan Homestead has some good info about harvesting: http://veganhomestead.com/2012/07/26/chickpea-harvest/
