As I fruitlessly circled Halsted, I thought to myself, "Shakes! PPK-ers! Mint chocolate shake!" but it was not to be. That was a lot of people, and all of them were stopping me from parking. So I went home, and bought coconut milk ice cream on the way home. NOT THE SAME.

D'awww! I'd really like to see you too! I work all weekend, but PM me if you think you might stop by the GIANT Whole Foods (North and Kingsbury, just west of the North & Clybourn Red Line). I'm usually running around the wine department.

It sounds like this is going to be a very small meetup, unless people are planning to come who haven't said anything. That's totally cool, since I seem to recall it's not easy to seat a large group in the Diner...but, I'm really sorry to all of you who can't make it! I wish I could have picked a day when more people were free.

Oh no! I got pulled off the PPK this week, and already had plans. I'm sorry the Chicago PPKers stood you up, choirqueer. I feel very sad about that. Did you at least have delicious food?

Actually I'm kinda bummed out about the quality of the Diner. I've been there a few times before and it was always pretty good, but this time it was just kinda meh. And they now serve dairy cheese, with great enthusiasm, which was kind of off-putting since the whole reason I like to go there and will pay those outrageous prices is to support a vegan business. The milkshake was great, of course...but, I think next time I have the choice, I'll choose one of the other vegan restaurants in the city, of which there are so many, and so many of them are really good! I had brunch at Native Foods this morning, for instance, which was fantastic. :D

I might have some free time tomorrow or possibly Saturday, if you want to still try to hang out!

The Chicago Diner has always been vegetarian, with the ability to veganize pretty much anything on the menu. I'm sorry your visit sucked though :( I wonder if the food quality was subpar because they're in the process of opening a second location, so maybe the management aren't really attentive right now.
