I know that I'm going to be repeating that ad nauseum to any potential Romney/Ryan voters who are elderly (hi MIL!) or care about someone elderly.

Use Planned Parenthood's form to send a letter to Ryan and your friends letting them know his stance on abortion (ban it with no exception for rape and/or incest), Planned Parenthood (shut it down) and fetal personhood (he supports it). He is a disaster for women's health - this isn't just about the economy any more.

yup, this is going to be interesting. I wonder how many elderly Republicans will switch to vote Democrat because of worries about what Romney/Ryan might do to Medicare. Maybe Romney's advisers are telling him there are enough young voters to make up for the loss, or he's just clueless.

My inside sources on the radio tell me this is his attempt to energize the die hard conservatives that weren't that enthusiastic about Romney. I guess them being enthusiastic might have the possible effect of helping him raise more money or go out and canvas more, but I don't think the type of people that will jump for joy over Paul Ryan had any intentions of voting for anyone except for Romney in the first place.

I don't know...Sarah was funny until she was terrifying. I think he's just starting off at terrifying, so I'm not sure what comes after that.

Moderately so. He was in the news awhile ago during the Congress shenanigans where they couldn't approve a new budget. He wanted to change Medicare so that they get vouchers instead of the government just paying for their healthcare. And also I think he wanted to get rid of medicare for people who were under a certain age.

I read something that compared him to the choice that Dole made to add Jack Kemp to the ticket.

I just think the two of them look so much like the team from McKinsey that is here to fire you and your entire department.

Google: Paul Ryan talks about deer hunting.

There will be all sorts of site discussing how he love hunting. He LOVES hunting deer. Especially with a bow. I heard him speaking about it on the radio to some crowd today (so he can make his appeal to the NRA crowd and seemingly connect to blue collar).

All about how deer hunting is starting and he can't wait to get home to starting the killing deer with his family. (He and Palin have something in common.)

While there are lots of issues this election is certainly one pertinent to this board.

Can candidates change their VP before the elections? I'm wondering if this guy got chosen on purpose because he's so bad, and in a few weeks Romney will sort of "see the light" and change to a more moderate one so the public might think he's not so bad anymore?

That would make Romney look totally incompetent. I couldn't say that's never been done, but... It just isn't done.

And Ryan only looks awful to people who already thought Romney looked awful.

I think McGovern did it in 1972, but I believe that it was the VP running mate that offered to withdraw (plus McGovern lost, so...). I don't know of an instance since then when it was happened, but I am far from an expert on the subject.

I'm sure he could, but I'm also 100% sure that picking Ryan is the Romney campaigns effort to direct the campaign discussion completely toward the budget, because even for most conservatives Ryan is a bit too far to the right on social issues.

I thought his stupid wuss out way of trying to keep these voters is that it will only affect people who are younger and not yet into that system? So if they only care about themselves (you know, like Ryan Ayn Randiness), it shouldn't affect their voting, but if they care about people who will soon be in their place, then they will maybe reconsider?
