That is a bummer, but it's kind of amazing that they lasted in that location for so long. They've never had much of an internet presence, so I have no idea how to get ahold of them. Sorry! I wasn't a huge fan of their food but was nevertheless an avid supporter since they were doing the impossible--a vegan food court business across from City Hall!

Went to 3 Jewels last night. Not as good as Veggie Chau Express but still tasty and quite inexpensive.

J-Dub, do you mean the LH foodcart in yaletown? I'm definitely curious about all the vegan foodcarts that have popped up since I've been away...

Yes, the food cart. And I am 100% serious. The burgers are so freaking good!

Price heads up....
Save On has Bob Red Mill's TVP on for 3.18 a package (all Red Mills seems to be 20% off) and bulk organic Quinoa on for .98 per 100 grams
Cost of food these days, any little saving helps.

I'm down with LH food cart if others are!
So when does everyone have free time? My schedule is pretty flexible since I don't have many actual classes. Anytime after Sept 3, really.
I miss Bandidas and Curry Village (? - I think it's called, the place that had Indian "brunch" near Main and Broadway). Are those places still alive and kicking? Also Pho Central.

They are both around! And it's Chutney Villa, though I too always search for the name.
Also, Chau Veg has freaking amazing Banh Mi. And there's a new veg Vietnamese place on Commercial, but they don't have Banh Mi so I'm not so psyched...
I work your typical 9-5 schedule but out in Surrey so I'm back in town by 6 on weekdays or can do weekends.

Banh Mi!
Vijita, when do you have days off? Would it be easier for you to come in on a weekday or the weekend?
By the way, I'm moving into an apartment that my friend has a lease on, it's a 2-bdrm and we were going to be roommates but she just got a job in SF and is suddenly moving out in a week. She's in the process of trying to find a replacement, but if any of you know anyone who is still looking for a place for September, let me know! It's $650 and in Kits.

I have been eating my face off since I got back. I especially can't get enough of Pho Central, and any ethiopian. sooo good. I need to stop going to restaurants and start cooking at home again now that I have a proper kitchen.
Edible Flours! Edible Flours!
I haven't had a cupcake for 2 forking years, so I couldn't stop thinking about getting one and I had fond memories of the strawberry and vanilla ones that they used to have at WF on Cambie. Unfortunately though, this weekend when I bought one, the cupcake was super dense and muffin-like and the icing had maybe too much shortening and was too sweet anyway. So disappointing. But then the Edible Flours cafe came to my rescue. Their cupcakes are so amazing and fluffy and the icing is rich and smooth and has a great texture without being too sweet. It's so dangerous that I live only 5 blocks away and they have wi-fi. I went yesterday and I'm sitting here right now and have to resist the urge to buy/eat two more cupcakes after the amazing red velvet one that I just scarfed. So so so so so good! The goodness cannot be adequately expressed in words.
Anyway, let's meet up soon! How about this Saturday, or next weekend? What do you guys think? Vijita, can you make it?

I could potentially make next weekend happen, in theory. vijita, pick a weekend, and I'll make the trip up. 100% not this weekend though
