I'm a woman of great ideas really. Come back to me when you are in the late stages of pregnancy. I know all the tricks of the trade to get things moving even though I've never been pregnant.

Don't sweat it! The espresso does have less caffeine. I think one slip after being coffee free for a week is pretty good. It is hard!

I think Stumptown is pretty overrated. though it's impossible to avoid here. There are so many better roasters!

We drank World Cup while we were in Portland, mostly cause we stayed at the hostel across the street. But that one cup of Stumptown just was too much for me!
So, I just ran down to Sbux for an afternoon pick me up and didn't know what I wanted. So they suggested the new cool lime refresher with a shot of coconut syrup. Sooooo good! Still has caffeine but is light and fruity and wonderful.

just to let you know that caffeine is actually pretty fine for you during pregnancy. it's probably a good idea to cut down to 1-2 cups per day, simply because it's a diuretic and can inhibit the absorption of some nutrients, but it's really not necessary to cut it cold turkey. a lot of people don't like it in the first trimester anyway, and i only ever got through about a half a mug because i tend to get heartburn and it's too acidic to drink in large quantities. i like to spread it out a bit through the day... a half cup in the morning to wake me up a little, another half cup a couple hours later, maybe some tea or pop or chocolate a couple times a week.
anyway, caffeine is not the devil! just, you know, moderation and all that good stuff.

from what i understood (and please understand i originally didnt want to have kids so all this stuff is COMPLETELY new to me) is that they say 8 oz should be your limit when pregnant. that's like half of my usual morning travel mug. booo...
also i guess if you are having trouble conceiving that is the first thing they tell you to quit. im 34 about to turn 35 so im a little on the older side so i figured maybe it would be best to quit for now........for now.....

I've also heard that drinking green juice instead of coffee helps some kick their caffeine habit.

no, i've never heard the 8oz limit. i've heard under 300mg of caffeine (or 16oz coffee, 10 cans of coke, or multiple cups of tea etc) as a very conservative limit, and even then, the science behind it is pretty hazy.
one issue is of course that it is very hard to do good research on pregnant women, but overall, the research points to very high amounts of caffeine having some possible negative effects (like, i'm talking huge amounts of caffeinated drinks all day every day), but a "normal" amount of caffeine having either neutral or positive effects.
anyway, i don't want to dissuade you from cutting out caffeine, if you really want to. but i don't think you should feel guilty about moderate consumption, and especially if you are finding it hard to quit completely and are suffering from headaches and tiredness, you'd be better off having a cup or two a day and focusing your energy on eating well, exercise, and other healthy habits that will be more beneficial to a healthy pregnancy than cutting caffeine completely.

I drank decaf while pregnant and the first 6 months of nursing, and it made me very happy. That said, LB makes excellent points, and you can't go wrong listening to her <3

pregnancy was the main impetus to get me to quit coffee but i had some other reasons that i had been ignoring. i have really rampant anxiety problems and cycles of really bad insomnia. ive been told by drs that drinking caffeine is not the greatest thing to do when you have those problems.
funny thing is ever since stopping the caffeine totally ive been sleeping great and when i wake up in the morning i actually feel awake and not like death. yesterday when i had that peppermint mocha I COULD NOT SLEEP LAST NIGHT. i had the mocha at like 1:30ish. but apparently coffee that early still keeps me from sleeping.
i think it's honestly just something i need to do personally to make me feel better overall. good news is i feel better about having an occasional cup of coffee if/when i do get pregnant.
