I'm trying for my 3rd baby currently, and have been vegan for over a year. I was not vegan for my previous two pregnancies, so I'm looking for some valid nutrition info. Just a plain google search makes me nervous, a bunch of things come up, but I have no idea what is right. I also want some ammo for the naysayers in my life.
And advice, links, or books would be greatly appreciated!

i bought the Vegan Pregnancy Survival Guide and not to knock the book as i think it's great there are books like it but it's more of a "you go girl you can do this!" type of book. it does have basic nutritional guidelines in it but if you looking for better nutrition info i would go with Vegan for Life. it's not specificially geared towards pregnancy but it has a wealth of information and a section on pregnancy and kids and it gives you guidelines for pregnant women too. it's written by two people whom i believe are nutritionists whereas the other one is not. i think Vegan for Life is possibly the best book on vegan nutrition and health out there whether you are male, female, young, old, pregnant, menopausal, etc. it has guidelines and info for everyone. http://www.amazon.com/Vegan-Life-Everything-Healthy-Plant-Based/dp/0738214930/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1345725181&sr=8-1&keywords=vegan+for+life and here are the authors' blogs Jack Norris http://jacknorrisrd.com/Ginny Messina http://www.theveganrd.com/

Mihl wrote: Unfortunately this one came out after my pregnancy, so I never bought a copy. But looking at the preview it looks like it has a lot of nutritional information. http://www.amazon.com/The-Everything-Ve ... pd_sim_b_1That said I think that the one Ariann suggested has most of the info in short version. I used this book while pregnant. It is an alright book, but I do have to say it's "basic". So if you're a newish vegan, great; if you're an old hat probably not as useful. I found the info in Vegan for Life to be helpful as well, I refer to it often still.
