It is so annoying, since I planted the tree I haven't gotten to use one lemon. I send the beagles out every time I see them (grackles and pigeons) and they scare them off but it isn't enough. I don't want to put a net over the whole tree, is there any other option?

Tie a string to an old CD and hang it on a branch. It works better if you use something really scary, like Creed.

Its a common problem when anyone try to planting something but i would suggest you to create artificial human structure you must have seen it in farms where farmer place it in middle of the farm so the birds don't destroy there grains. Just put it in a side of the tree will help you.

Artificial human structures. Those things I haven't had luck with. I have had luck with artificial owls. Birds don't like 'em.
Also, the shiny things in the tree suggestion is a very good one! And probably the cheapest! Highly recommended.

NEXT YEAR YOU WILL HAVE LEMONS!!!
Our neighbors have an apricot tree... the squirrels go up their tree, pull off a fruit, run down the tree, cross the driveway, and run up our maple tree with it. Then the squirrel proceeds to pick apart the fruit and break the pit in half to get to the smaller seed inside. The squirrel eats the seed and scatters the perfectly lovely fruit all over the ground. So as of about two weeks ago our neighbors ended up with a naked apricot tree and we ended up with a car literally covered with gnawed-apart apricot pieces and pits. Squirrels are crassholes too.

Hi. Here are some more suggestions. Rubber snakes have been very effective for me. Also, anything shiny that moves in the breeze, ie. pinwheels, party tape, aluminium pie pans attached with string. Fly paper ribbon discourages birds and keeps the fruit fly population down - at least until the next rain.
We are living in a world today where lemonade is made from artificial flavors and furniture polish is made from real lemons.
