We were talking about it in the fake duck thread, and there's a recent ppk blog post. This was sent to me in that huge package a friend sent me a few months ago, and I just recently used it. So good! Made a 'broccoli beef' type sauce. If you have access, you should try it!

I actually think I have a can of that stuff! I just haven't opened it yet because I didn't know what to do with it. Looks good!

I feel inspiredddddd
So is this stuff just at any decent Asian market? And is there a section of it, or would it be tucked away in an odd place on its lonesome?

That doesn't look as scary as I would have imagined. It looks really good, actually! Maybe I'll be brave and buy some.

I really don't know, since I've never seen it, but I think it's in most larger Asian markets. Mine was like this:

It's a mollusk, people dive for them, obviously this is the mock version! Real abalone is very expensive and diving is very restricted. I went to China Town today and the cans of the real stuff sell for about $40 and were held behind the counter in a glass cabinet.
Looks like a good meal by the way!

It looks great. I learned what abalone was in the 4th grade when I had to read "Island of the Blue Dolphins" about 10 times because I kept switching schools. I might try the mock stuff but I never wanted the seafood, hehe.
