I also love the dress! What's wrong with modesty and a classic shape? Tea length flicks the weasel.

I personally love that she rocked flats for her wedding.

I think she looked gorgeous in the dress! Also: who cares?

I haven't seen a good picture of her dress yet. But from that one image floating around I hate it. Which makes me really sad, cause it's Rodarte!

Why should she care what anyone else thinks? I am sure she doesn't give a flying hoot if anyone liked her dress or not. Or if anyone has something to say about her temporary vegan lapse while she was preggers. I judge wedding dressing cause I used to be in the biz. Which may be wrong of me, but I do it anyway. I don't give a shiitake about anything else.

They don't swear that they don't use ingredients that may have been tested by someone else. I think this is why they aren't on the PETA list. They DO say that they are cruelty free, and they are not owned or distributed by anyone else. A few years ago, I got a nice reply back, about the Addict lipglosses, so they will probably be good about confirming the perfume. I'm assuming it's all synthetic, but you never know. My favorite, No5, has the distinction of being the first totally synthetic perfume, and also the dubious distinction of being used by zoos to entice mountain lions to mate. Screw Brad Pitt--they should build their advertising campaign around THAT.

Rodarte are the ones who thought it a great idea to do a MAC collection inspired by Mexican factory workers in Juarez. I know the fashion industry is clueless in general, but that has to be one of the worst.

I didn't see that. But I normally love Rodarte and especially the stuff they make for N. Portman.

It just stuck with me because it was so appalling. Basically, they were "inspired" by watching "ghostly" women walk to factories at 4am along roads notorious for horrific crimes against women. On one hand, they brought attention to this, but not exactly in the way they intended. They thought the scenes looked "romantic."

Where is the part about them saying they were inspired by the factory workers? I only see that there was outrage over the names of the actual names of the polishes. Link?

There are so many links about this. Google Mac + Rodarte. Here is a summary from Temptalia: http://www.temptalia.com/mac-rodarte-co ... -fall-2010From Pink Sith: http://www.pinksith.com/2010/07/comment ... metic.htmlBoth links have some snippets of the interview where the Rodarte designers talk about being inspired by the eerie, wraith-like figures they saw on their road trip. The ultimately yanked the whole collection.

The opening sequence of the movie Bordertown about Juarez is just the creepiest thing. I turned it off after that, but it still gives me the creeps.

Okay, this thread got me to look up the picture, and I'm another who loves the dress! But it's her choice, not everyone's cup of tea, etc. The link I found was some gossipy site with people posting comments that were "rules" like: "Sleeves? You do not put sleeves on a wedding dress!" Tiresome.
Having said that: Yuck! That "inspiration" story at Rodarte is awful.
