Oh, maybe i'm thinking of the laser, then. I know i've read that some hair removal thing works better with coarse, dark hair.

yeah, that's definitely laser. the light is attracted to the pigment.

I'm doing laser on my pitty-pit-pits. Got a groupon for $175 for 6 sessions on a "medium" sized area. I just had my 4th appointment a few days ago...

Just to let you know, I have a medium/dark Filipino skin tone with jet black hair. I saw results pretty quickly, and now there's only a few stragglers left that I'm hoping to get in the next two appointments. If not, it's still great cuz I have barely anything left!

I've had like 8 treatments on my stache and it's definitely helped, but it didn't 100% work. I think it's because I'm Jewish.

Thank you so much for the info, ladies (presuming you're all ladies, anyway).

I had laser tattoo removal done, it sounds like there are some similarities. (The laser tat removal hurt like fork, but I'm a massive wimp. My doctor laughs at me at needle time and points out the tats and piercings and is like, "really?" as I turn 10 shades of green.)

I think the numbing cream is going to be my friend. Going for the first sesh next week; I'll report back!

I did IPL on my pits and it seemed to work pretty well (I have black hair). I know that it doesn't 100% remove the hair, but it so far has made it a lot finer (almost as smooth as my arm hair) to a point that i don't really need to shave anymore. I'm still going for them, i signed on to a package that was unlimited :)

I am just wondering if Laser Hair Removal is safe to our skin or health. From the word itself, laser means there is a radiation; and we all know that like in X-ray machine, some doctors remind us not to have too much exposure with the radiation from X-ray device. Is it safe to use Laser Hair Removal? How many time do we usually apply it?

Thanks in advance,

Mary Denise Oporto

Not to be the downer on this thread, but I am the perfect skin type (pale skin and very dark hair) and had 6 treatments done on my arms. The only thing it did for me is make my long, dense arm hair super patchy, so now I have to shave it all the time. :( The technician said I was unusual but it seemed like each treatment only affected a few hairs.

maybe try a different location/technician with a different type of laser.

I had upper lip treatment about 8 years ago and I'm sorry to say it really didn't work for me. Oh and it hurt like a bisque there and the huge university hospital I went to didn't use numbing cream. Hopefully the treatments have gotten more effective and less painful by now, I'd like to try it again if they have. By the way, I have dark hair and light-ish natural slightly tan/olive skin (stayed out of the sun during treatment) and they told me I was a good candidate.

I had laser hair removal on my face, and it hurt like I can't even describe. I have PCOS, so male pattern hair growth is a symptom. I started growing it when I was 13. By the time I got to the laser, I actually ended up crying at the doctor because I was so embarrased, and so distraught that I was having it done.
