Pickledtreats' experience at Sunshine sound promising, so I'm assuming that's still on the table. I just got back from holiday today and am looking forward to the meetup! If it's okay I'll just join you at dinner (and maybe aperitif). Would love to go to Sunshine - and thanks for calling Cornelie, I never got an answer on my emails and was a bit busy before leaving for France. I always find it hard to suggest things to do in my hometown, as I live here and don't really do tourist stuff LOL. Anyway, it's Open Monumentendag so most museums have free entrance (and will be busy). This year's theme is Groen van toen (something Nature in History???) There's also Boekenfestijn in the Jaarsbeurs, if you like that sort of thing. Gotta go and have dinner now... yes, at 21:30 :\

If most of the rest of us bring things to nom, I'm pretty sure we'll have food stuff covered? (I don't want to volunteer something that others might disapprove of. But my $0.02 are that picnics and potlucks are great, and I don't mind if not everyone can bring something, so long as there is mostly stuff to be had.)

Hmm... if I have time, I can swing by the AH and get LU cookies! (And store-bought hummus, but I don't want to do that if anyone was planning to bring homemade hummus.)

LU crackers and hummus sounds just fine lepelaar. I have secret love for LU crackers. I'd like to make some socca (chickpea quiche) and seitan pepperoni.

Agreed. (I have a secret love for those - and also the sabira hummus AH sells.) I'm going to make apple/berry muffin things. Will consider what else.
Does anyone have an idea for places where picnicing can happen?

One of the 'bolwerken' (remnants of the city's old defensive structure)? They look green and park-like on google maps/streetview. The real parks are a little further away from the station.

Actually, I meant the Robuste koekjes, but I guess crackers actually make more sense with hummus. :D I'll see what I can swing at the AH.
Ok, so, shall we solidify stuff?
Attending: Cornelie, lutin, Gnoe (closer to dinner time), Veg_Eric, pickledtreats, muffinpants and Mr. muffinpants (if feeling better), and lepelaar.
Meeting point: Utrect CS, near the station cafe (near spoor 4). Meeting time: 12:30?? Does that work for everyone?
Lunch: picnic, location to be determined (Is everyone ok with this?)
Dinner: Sunshine
Possible activities: wandering in town center, Dom, shopping, Bureaubewust, botanical gardens, Museum of Contemporary Aboriginal Art... any other options that come up. (I'll throw in the Catharijneconvent, but I realize not everyone is as weirdly interested in ecclesiastical art as I am.)
Logistics: we should exchange phone numbers. I've got numbers for Veg_Eric, Cornelie, and lutin. I'll PM the other folk with my number just so everyone has at least one person's number.
Could everyone confirm by Saturday morning so that we know who all to look for at the station?

This might seem weird, but I'm worried about being able to find you guys without knowing what anyone looks like! If you see a blonde girl and a guy with a beard looking confused and lost, that's probably us.

The three on the left are Veg_Eric, myself, and Cornelie, and lutin is the adorable redhead second from the right. We'll be looking out for you guys too!

(I hope no one minds my publically putting names to faces. I just realized not everyone might be cool with that. If anyone objects, I can ask one of the mods to delete my post.)

You'll be able to spot VegEric: he's about 2m tall, usually wears a neon colored motorcycling jacket to these events (for easy long distance identification!) and will be surrounded by a gaggle of vegan women. AHem. ;) That and the phone numbers should making id's easy, but if you're really concerned, you can pm a picture to one of us (e.g. lepelaar, our ringleader).

I think someone at the last meetup mentioned it was easy to find us because they noticed a group of people all wearing vegan shoes. :)

Shall I call and make the reservation at Sunshine? It's not the biggest place in the world, so it's probably good to give them a heads up.

Yes :-) As I said upthread, when I called them, I already gave them an indication that we'd come with a group of 7-8 people, so maybe when you call it's a good idea to tell them you want to confirm that, just to make sure they won't get confused. Thanks for offering to call!
