I'm so sorry Sable is doing poorly right now, and wish the vets knew what the heck is wrong with her.

It sounds good that she peed and is going to be getting some nutrition into her. Sable loves you and she knows you are doing your best at trying to help her feel better! No dog could ask for a kinder more compassionate person. Don't worry yet about making any decisions. If that time comes you will know what to do. Love and hugs to you and sweet Sable! I've been thinking about you both all the time!

Thank you everyone for your thoughts. I just visited her again. They couldn't put in the feeding tube because she feels nauseated and keeps dry heaving. So they have her on all kinds of anti-nausea drugs now. She is getting some nutrition through her IVs but they really want to get some food in her stomach. She is still peeing and did a little poop while we were there. She tried to sit up a few times, but mostly she just lies there and sleeps. Her blood is 20, which isn't great, but it's been holding steady at 20 today so they won't do another transfusion unless it drops lower. The vet we spoke with tonight was really nice. I mean, they are all nice, but this one sat in the cage with us and explained everything they are doing and why, and she kept asking if we had any questions about anything. I still hate leaving my dog there at night. I'm terrified the phone will ring in the middle of the night like it did last night. I hope not.

She's not doing well. Her platelet count is stable (not great, but not dropping) but she is all jaundiced now and her liver values are high. She can't eat, even though she is on every anti-nausea/anti-vomiting drug possible. She can't even lift her head up on her own. I feel so bad. I hate seeing her like this. The vet says we have done everything possible, but for whatever reason Sable is not responding to treatment. I think the vet is trying to gently nudge us towards euthanasia, but every time I think about it, I break down completely. I don't want my dog to suffer, but I don't know how I can live without her. With all of my other pets, I have been able to be objective and make the decision but now I just can't. Sable is my heart dog. I don't know what to do.

Oh sweetie. I have nothing wise to say except that so many people here are with you and Sable in spirit, and we'll always be here for you. Still sending you both as many wishes and good thoughts as possible. Biggest hugs.

I know it is a tough decision. I really do understand. It is definitely not an easy one to make. It will be one of the toughest decisions of your life. But she is suffering and there is a way to kindly stop that suffering. It is one of the most selfless things you can do for her so she can be at peace.
Just give yourself a few days to be miserable. Allow yourself to grieve. But in the end, remember you done it so she didn't have to suffer unnecessarily

Thank you everyone. I'm going to see her now. I think it is time to let her go. I'm so upset but I'm trying to be strong because I don't want her to hurt.
