Would you like to watch a complete episode of The Price is Right from 1972?

I would. I am mesmerized. And the older I get, the more I want to go back.

That is certainly a lot of shag carpeting.

That was awesome.

Funny how expensive everything is compared to the cars.

I would love to see an old episode of Wheel of Fortune, back when they had the dalmation statues as prizes to be "bought."

The display ladies have great hair.

Ragu on eggs?!?

A debutante stove!

But most of all, that carpet. Fascinating, yet irritates my texture issues.

Loved it!

Janice was there! Janice was one of the original spokesmodels from the show.

It's usually safe to pass on the first showcase because the second one is almost always better (or was in the seventies).

I still remember when they brought in the spinning wheel to decide the showcase contestants because that was a change.

I was glad to see a dude playing (Larry, whose nametag was missing at first) because when they panned the audience, I hardly saw any guys.

^As the studio lights reflected off Larry's shining face during the showcase showdown, I thought to myself 'in this day and age, they'd have powdered him down', but the seventies don't need no stinkin powder.

Those are my people. Sure, I was only 8 when this first aired, but still.

My fondness for that time period is becoming an issue for me.

I'm more of a Match Game 73 man, myself. It's so much better than the other 72 match games.

All that polyester in one place makes me grateful for modern fire codes.

Yep, I was a big Match Game fan.

Match Game 73, Susan vs. Karen!

Decaffeinated decaf.

Also... The Match Game brings me back many fond memories of staying up insanely late watching reruns of it. I was mad about Richard Dawson.

So I watched this Match Game eps before bed last night and when I saw it was 29 minutes long, I knew it would include commercials and I was more excited to see them than anything. I totally remember the Liquid Plumber guy and the Halls lozenge commercial from back in the day. Remember when the Wicked Witch of the West plugged Maxwell House coffee? (I think it was MH).

Also, I had no idea Richard Dawson died recently (watching this episode made me google him and there I found out), that Jack Klugman is still alive (Quincy! Sam back in the lab did all the work and Quincy got all the glory) and it was nice to see Mama Cass. This whole thing just oozes seventies nostalgia!

She's, like, really bad at this game.

My favorite part of this clip is that they broadcast all the parts that probably would have ended up on the cutting room floor today.

When we lived in NYC in the 70's, our apartment had gold shag carpeting and chocolate brown walls. My mom would copy designs that Bob Mackie made for Cher and wear them to cocktail parties.
The 70's were bad...

You have provided 2 reasons why the 70s were the greatest.

Oh man. Best! Match Game reruns on GSN were my procrastination method of choice during college. I had confusing feelings about Gene Rayburn. What's the word for when you have a crush on someone but also wish they were your uncle?

Well, Weird Al is pretty athletic, so he might buy a hundred sneakers and accordion.

Or not.
