My friend is coming from Portland and requested them. Should I simply roast them with olive oil, salt and pepper or do something fancy?

I like to blanch green beans so they stay nice and bright green and then saute them in EB and season with salt and pepper. If you're wanting something a little more fancy you can add a splash of amaretto and flame it to burn off the alcohol and then serve the beans topped with toasted almonds.

I've never made this but I've heard lots of good things about it. Not sure if it's what you're looking for though.

I may try it! I can't remember if I ever ate the traditional version.

I'm totally making this, I already have two giant bags of beans that I froze when I got way more than I could ever eat in my CSA, and I picked up the onions at tj's.

I make this every year. My mom just asked the other day if I was bringing this because everyone loves it. I make my own oven-fried onions to go on top.

Do you have a recipe for your oven-fried onions? I really want to make the FFV recipe, but I'm wary of the canned onion stuff.
