Geez, that book is older than I am, and I'm pretty old! It used to belong to my mother. Do you have a link to those recipes? Canada is such a melting pot that I don't really think we have much that is uniquely ours. I've lived here all my life and I don't consider very many things 'Canadian' (outside of certain game dishes, ie. caribou) when it comes to food. I've often thought it would be fascinating to go right back to the country's beginning and what was eaten by the settlers and build on that. Of course, that's probably where our heavy British influences came from. We never see much about the dishes of our different Native groups either. You can find all the ones I did (I reprinted the recipes since it was such an old book that is out of it's print run) by my tag VeganMofo 2011 here: http://www.killerbunniesinc.com/tag/veganmofo-2011/

There are so many awesome ideas going on. I'm excited to see what all you lovely people come up with.
I'm doing "Turn Betty Crocker Into a Vegan". I'm picking recipes from my Betty Crocker cookbook (mostly ones I've never tried, even pre-veg) and making them vegan. I'm also trying to keep the ingredients simple, cheap, and easily accessible to the majority of people, so that it will be appealing to someone who's maybe just starting to dip their feet in. Only one of the recipes will use tofu, because I also like to demonstrate that it is, in fact, possible to not put tofu in everything. :-p

I like to see someone have a theme based on all those weird ingredients we buy and then forget why we bought them. I still have a can of black soybeans hiding in the back of my pantry and for some reason I bought coconut vinegar. That's exactly my theme, though of course my ingredients may not be the same as yours. Sweet! I'll definitely be checking out your blog, I'm sure we're bound to have some similar bizarro ingredients.

This will be my first year of using a spreadsheet to keep track of my theme ideas. I did a month of guest posts from animal friends' perspectives last year, so that was easy to do, and I usually just wing it with casual updates about whatever is happening in my kitcheny life. This year, I have five set themes so there will be a little wiggle room for the weekend post (which I'm doing with Strawberryrock for our cocktail project), but I'm getting nervous about making sure I'm a day ahead or doing things in the morning. I suppose I should get started !

It seems to be a constant theme that when you read or hear about a healthy diet , the exorbitant cost is the main focus and that doesn't have to be true.

I'm thinking of doing Mediterranean foods, mostly from the Mediterranean Vegan Kitchen. I'm looking forward to lots of delish soup!

I'm so excited reading everyones themes. Efcliz I'm looking forward to seeing what you pull out of your stash of ingredients and zensquiggle your random food holidays theme sounds awesome.
I'm doing daily themes again this year...
Go Go Gadget Monday - Utilising my underused gadgets....spiraliser to my chocolate fountain etc. Cookbook Challenge Tuesday - I'll be picking cookbook names out of a hat & using a random number generator to pick my recipes again. What I Ate Wednesday - Simple, just pictures of what I've been eating. Things I Love Thursday - product / cookbook reviews, restaurant reviews etc Pie-Day Friday - Any excuse to eat pies really! I'll mainly be using VPITS. Scottish Saturday - I'm actually Scottish so I'll be recreating vegan versions of Scottish classics I loved as a kid Football Food Sunday - Bringing back an old favourite again here. A British person cooking American comfort food classics - this should be a little ridiculous as always!

My theme is waffles. Expect dessert, savory, soy-free, raw, gluten-free, sandwich ideas, waffle maker reviews, and Leslie Knope.
Be warned: Chiara the Kitten will stand in for any of my lapses in blogging motivation.

Been years since I've been on PPK--lost my old username, I guess! Good to be back though :)
This is going to be my 4th MoFo and I'll be featuring a recipe from each of the cookbooks on my shelf + restaurant reviews here & there. Can't wait to get back to the craziness!

I *think* my plan, in keeping with the theme of my blog and getting things revamped and back in the intended direction ... is to do an A-Z list of ingredients, tools, and tips that are helpful for new vegans, or those interested in learning about it. (For example, N = nutritional yeast, Q = quinoa, etc.) Writing about the nutritional benefits of each, where you might use them and why, etc. Paired with recipes, where possible. But I'm stuck on H, J, O, R, Y, and Z. Any suggestions for those letters?! :P http://www.abcvegan.com/blog:)
