jdfunks brought me the Mexican salt & pepper chocolate all the way from Portland and it was a score indeed!

I love wasabi...wasabi peas are one of my favorite snacks.

But I CANNOT handle the wasabi seaweed snacks. I don't get it. I should like them. But they are way to hot for me. It's like all wasabi. meh. makes me sad.

Really? I feel like they are more sweet than hot.

I would like the wasabi seaweed snacks even more if they had 10 times as much wasabi.

But I also eat wasabi plain when I'm out for sushi because it's so good.

Guys! I now live .4 miles from a Trader Joe's according to google maps. I've never lived less than a 30 minute drive from a TJ's, and now I can walk to one in like 8 minutes! Best day ever.

I went today and got enough groceries to last me the rest of the week and part of next for less than $20! Sliced bread, a pound of hummus ($4! I almost died from happiness haha), frozen veggies for stir fries, kale and a lettuce mix ($2 each!), apples, rice vinegar, and tofurky slices for sandwiches. I'm already stocked up on bulk things and beans, so I'm good to go. Yay! TJ's is the closet grocery store to me, and I'm excited I'll be able to buy my weekly groceries there without going broke. I always thought it was more expensive than a normal grocery store for some reason.

I didn't look at any of the sweets or cookies, because I wasn't sure how much my bill was going I be and I wanted to stay with in my $30/week budget, but next time I think I will. I'll have to go back through this thread to see what I should get haha

today i pitched the sugar/salt/choc almonds to my entire 264-person class. i want to ensure that they never stop selling them. never ever.

I know I have said it before, but I really really really love the frozen brown rice that you just microwave for a few minutes.

Trying to cut down on $ I bought brown rice and have been cooking it myself, and it is just yuck compared to the TJ kind. It's ok in the pressure cooker, but mush on the stove.

I am having a curry tonight, and am tempted to ask my BF to stop at TJ's and get some on the way home. I feel bad though...I always forget stuff, and he ends up going to the store like every night.

well...if I do I am toats gonna have him pick me up a $5 bottle of Sangiovese. Yum

Oh! We recently tried the TJ's brand Mexican Lager. Basically, it tasted just like Corona. Alas, I kind of hate Corona. But for $5 a six pack, it was not too bad. Needs lime of course. Our guests liked it a lot. Lucky for me I had other beer in the fridge haha.

No mush! You just need a mesh strainer. And I use a large saucepan, but I'm sure nowhere near 12 cups of water. It's still fine.

Question: if the rice is not quite done after the 10 minute (dry) steaming at the end, what do you do? keep steaming? add some water?

Mine's never not been done! I haven't used more than the cup of dry rice called for, and the 30 minutes of boiling seems to do the trick. :)

So it looks like the antioxidant moisturizer is not vegan - it never was even with the V. I bought a new bottle today for the boyfriend and noticed it did not say vegan, looked at my old bottle that said vegan - scanned the ingredients and saw D3. I am going to go get my $ back. :/

I made some crepes tonight with cookie butter, powdered sugar, Justin's hazelnut butter, and bananas.

Thanks for that link! I tried this last night and it came out good. It was a little dente, but i threw a quarter cup of hot water in there, let it steam some more and it was perfect. next time I will just boil for longer. (I did 25 minutes - scared of mush)

That is my go to method for brown rice from here on out.

I'm heading to TJ's tomorrow to restock on maple syrup, olive oil and chickin' tenders (and maybe another s&p chocolate wheel)...anything newish I need to get?

I got the Japanese Fried Rice thanks to recommendations here and it was super-good, but I couldn't find any tofu, despite it mentioning tofu on the package. My kidlet housed it though, so its definitely a good thing.

Also the dark chocolate truffle bars. n.u.m.m.y.

Not like coconut flakes, but coconut chips.

I saw the coconut chips - but since the boyfriend hates coconut I never bother with anything that features the ingredients.

Those coconut chips are incredible. Dry roasted large coconut shreds with salt, sugar, coconut milk and coconut water. DEEELICIOUS.

I just ordered Cooking with TJ Skinny Dish because it's vegan and there is a vegetarian one coming out before the end of the year.

I have never seen Cooking with TJ Skinny Dish! I need to find it now!
