Haha, I sent a FB message an hour or so ago with my number. I booked a table for 7.30, so the train that arrives at 7.07 will be good. We can meet at the front entrance. Veg_eric and I can maybe go to the station together, depending on where the hostel is (another pm!) I'll text if I'm running late.

Me too - the food & etc. pictures on fb look great! But it's good I left Friday. I've had a high fever since Friday night.

Oh, no! Sorry to hear you're sick, lutin! Glad you're dealing with that at home, though, rather than on the road.
We'll have to do it again sometime when you guys can come. It was really fun! Ghent is a really lovely city, and fisticuffs knows all the good places! :D
I'm also amazed at how vegan-friendly Ghent is. Everything was really yummy! I kind of wish I'd gotten one of those wraps that Veg_Eric and fisticuffs got at Greenway as takeaway for lunch today.
I am kind of wondering if there wasn't dairy in the dessert we had at lunch yesterday, though. I had assumed it was vegan, but I was uncomfortably full all afternoon and evening which is exactly how my body reacted to dairy when I still ate it. (There were also some other reactions that are a little TMI.) And according to Happy Cow, Avalon is ovo-lacto. Even so, I'd assume Cashew pudding would be vegan.

Vegan buffet at Lekker GEC: A little bit of everything from the buffet: Fisticuffs and Veg_Eric at Avalon. We all ordered the Tempeh Reubens. Close up of Tempeh Reuben (and lots of other stuff they add to the plate). Cashew lemon pudding that we also all ordered: Rhubarb crumble at a place that I can't remember the name of that had three vegan baked goods, great plates, and a cool bathroom. And couch with odd cat-themed stuff we ran across in our wandering:

My selection at Lekker Gec: (phone pictures so not that good) Some kind of apple pie/tart on Saturday afternoon, but I forgot the name of the place: "Kebab wrap" at Greenway

Sorry about your tummy, lepelaar! I've always been assured the food is vegan - you can only get dairy add-ins like milk with your coffee, cheese on pasta and butter on bread. I wish they would just get rid of that all together.

Yeah, I always figure I would taste if something was dairy, too. I've gotten dairy by accident in my latte, and it tastes like dairy. That pudding didn't. Who knows what it was. Maybe I just felt really full because I was really full!
