A new kid joined my research group. We all went to a workshop in Belgium this week, and it was the first time new kid and I had a chance to talk. We shared adventure stories (my India ones for his E/SE Africa ones) over Ethiopian food, and he told me about his next plan: trekking across mountains in Ethiopia. I am suddenly so dreamy/starry eyed for him.

Uggg... My crush came over to my place tonight for a game night (with other people in our program). I told myself I would be open to crushes in grad school if they were in a different program. Also, the guy is not the type of guy I normally like.

Oh my forking god. I am forking smitten as fork. Snuggle crush kissed me. And made out with me. He just left (it's 3am, he really had to be home)... It was so perfect there are literally tears of joy in my eyes. And I have no doubt that he partly went home when he did because he knew it would keep me that much more on the edge of my seat.

Instead I was like COME TO BLOW PONY and she was like my ride is leaving! Obviously we have a deep connection because she's hot and also we exchanged first names.

So a few weeks ago this girl gave me her number at a party and then, somehow, I've managed to only see her like three times in passing since then. I go to a school with 900 people. I see EVERYONE. Except her. And then it's really inopportune times or weird or whatever. I give up.

Anyways, back to crush-talk: coffee-shop crush is still a crush for sure, I see him less now that's back at school and I was just getting the impression he wasn't into me that way so I stopped focusing on him... but lately he's been stopping in at my work a lot more and making a point to not only say hi, but stop and chat with me... and so today I picked a pansy and tied a cute bow (pale purple gingham) on it and went in to see him and was all "I realized I haven't given you a flower in a while! Got to remedy that!" and he was so happy and cute about it! And he said I made his day better, and then also said sorry for always being busy and never able to hang out, and that he really does want to hang out! And I know late nights are hard for him lately so I asked if a dinner-ish hangout would be better for him and he was all into that! Woot. Now I just have to follow-through, that's the hard part.

Ok, I'm errr staying over @ "girl who has a crush on me"'s place on the way home so we can talk and hang out more. So we shall see what happens, if I get a crush or not. She has a couch for me if not. Could be weird, might not be weird, shall see.

Oh the backstory is that she teased me for being 25 since it was a dance night for queer women 30 and up and she's older than me...she was so hot guys.

So confused. So things are going great with the boy. We hang out a lot and have fun and we've hooked up a couple more times, and he's super snuggly and adorable and when I'm with him I get the sense that he has a crush on me too. But then when I'm not with him I can't help but think that I read too much into things and that we're never going to be more than what we are now, which is depressing, cause I'd like to legitimately date him. But at the same time I don't want to bring it up because I'm afraid if I say anything he'll think I'm a clinger and it'll ruin what we have going.
