Fell in love with these Blowfish Tribeca boots. Realised they have a leather insole. Dreams of boots are dashed!

Yes! The Blowfish Renegade is pretty similar and I have already checked them out for stupid leather insoles and they don't seem to have them (I loved the Tribeca too!).

I'm not sure if anyone else does Sole Society. I'm so sick of the membership buying sites, but this one has some cute shoes that are synthetic (although not all) and mostly around $50 - $60.

The boyfriend wants some cold weather (CA cold weather) boots that are rain proof! He is more casual than dressy and he liked these yesterday:


I just have a feeling they will get stinky if they are wet. Anyway to prevent this? Also any guys boot recs that are under or around $100? I found lots of cool vegan mens boots but not in our price range...

It's weird because my first thought was "ew" and then they started growing on me and I've been obsessing over them for weeks. I hope I like them in real-life. I have yet to be disappointed with a Melissa shoe, though. Yoox.com has a bunch of discounted Melissa-brand shoes, some really cheap. They were very comfortable and cute but you get what you pay for...they're pretty cheaply made so the sole just isn't very good, it's breaking down already.

I just broke down and bought two more expensive pairs from NOAH vegan italian shoes, hopefully they last well.

Do the Noah's breathe OK? I'm kind of bummed out about the Beyond Skin flats I got. They don't breathe at all and the back is so stiff that last time I wore them (even with those added cushion stickers you can buy) I got such bad cuts in the back of my heels that I had scarring for over a month (and I just bled all over the cushion stickers! Totally worthless).

Modcloth stuff is stuff I can find in cheap stores here. I've ranted before, but they disappoint me because I had my heart set on these boots once and once I got them, learned they were constructed out of cardboard and thin cotton 'wool'. They got wet once and fell apart. I was so mad. Way to go on the Noah's, they look soooo cute! I now know about a new vegan brand.

Report back on the Noah's! I really need a pair of black flats for work, but after all the really disappointing experiences I've had, I'm hesitant to spend any money on shoes these days. I always end up with disgusting sweaty feet and being gross and stinky once I take my shoes off, AND the shoes usually fall apart really quickly. Why is this so hard?

I feel all of this! I love shoes so much theoretically but I don't think I have ever had a pair I liked last for more than a few months so spending more than say $30 usually seems ridiculous

That's disappointing that the Beyond Skin ones were ouchy! I'd been eyeing off a few pairs of them for a while. I just need decent office shoes, I'm hoping to get some good ones that I don't have to replace for a while! Crossing my fingers that these ones hold up well and don't scratch my feet.

Me too. I actually have a pair of heels from them, and they're sooo comfy and awesome, but are also from like five years ago. I was hoping they were representative of other styles in terms of comfort, but I guess not.

I'm with you guys on being frustrated. I don't want another pair of crappy $10 Old Navy flats, but I don't want to waste money on pricier ones that will fall apart anyway. Hrmph.

Has anyone tried flats from other fancy vegan companies, like Olsen Haus or Cri de Coeur or Neuaura or whatever?

My old Beyond Skin flats are fine, but ones I got in their last sale gave me hurtsies! I've only worn them twice though, I was hoping it was going to go away.

Yeah, I have quite a few pairs of Beyond Skin and they all really hurt. It's kind of like they're SO well made they don't breathe at all.

I've had some Olsen Haus Babylon flats for a few years now and I like them. They're well-made and as comfy as a pair of flats are going to be. I did order up a half-size, and I find them to be roomy enough to wear with thin knee-high socks/maybe a little wide (which is sure better than too narrow!). I don't know about "breatheable" because I don't think any vegan shoes breathe enough for my sweaty feet.

I honestly can't remember pregan shoes and their breathability (is that a word? probably not), but I don't think I was wearing ballet flats then anyway. Nowadays I've taken to wearing those little "socks" that are supposed to be invisible in flats but usually manage to peek out a bit (especially because my flats seem to be low-cut all around). It's annoying, but they do make shoes a bit more comfy; I hate the sweaty feet feeling!

I need to figure out what to do make them softer. Someone online said to take a hammer to the back of the shoe. Which sounds crazy, but I dropped money on shoes that make me bleeeeeed and it makes me sad and I am desperate. Alternatively, maybe once it's cold enough to wear thick stockings I can break them in that way.

I have a pair of booties from Olsenhaus. I've only worn them once because I have trouble balancing in them (erm, can't tell if that's me or the shoe!) and they are really slippery, but the workmanship seems really good at least. I'm hoping to wear them more this fall.

Also my current flats (Dollhouse brand from zappos I think) smell SO bad that it's not even funny. But they are so very comfy that I refuse to throw them away yet.

Inspired by this thread I tried a old tip from my Mum and packed them with wet scrunched up newspaper last night. I have a pair with me to try and wear for an hour today, with socks, to see how they go.

It may sound crazy but it totally works. My DM's are a little on the tight side (the size up was way too loose) & I have to hammer the backs every time I wear them! If I remember they're super comfy to wear (with socks) & if I forget they're agony!

The pair of Heart of Darkness by Cri de Coeur booties that I got are super comfortable and well made. I can't speak to any of their other shoes though.

This place Galo Shoes has some really nice vegan stuff, too bad I can't afford any of them though. I wish I had the $$ to invest in really high quality stuff like this.
