Vegusto cheese is available in Australia now, but it's $10.50 for 200g! I know it doesn't melt, but I was wondering if anyone who's tried it could let me know how it compares to Cheezly? I don't mind Cheezly, although the edam has a weird sweetish flavour. I'm not keen on Sheese, which is so darn hard & chalky, & the mozzarella is bland & doesn't melt. We don't have Daiya, so that's not a good point of reference for me, but is Vegusto nicer than Cheezly in taste & texture? I thought I'd ask before I spend $10.50!

It's Isa's favorite store bought cheese. I'd buy it on that recommendation alone if I could.

I tried the walnut kind and it was only okay. It kind of tasted like feet, but that's how I feel about most vegan cheeses. The texture seemed sort of grainy to me.

It's not worth the price in my opinion. I've only had Sheese once and it was ages ago, so I really couldn't tell you how they compare.

My sister bought me some Vegusto and I just tried it right now. It's the nicest cheeze I've tasted so far (haven't tasted Daiya though, I'm in .au also). Then again I really don't like other cheezes I've tried, I had two half packets of Cheezly go bad because I wasn't eating it :( The texture of Vegusto is nicer to me than the two Cheezlys.

Overall I'm mehhh about vegan cheeze because I wasn't really in to cheese that much pre-vegan. But Vegusto is what I'll be using to try and get my omni family to eat vegan cheese.

I wasn't a huge cheese-eater when I was vegetarian, but I just like to try new things, & sometimes when I don't have homemade paté, seitan or "cheese" in the fridge, it would be nice to grab something conveniently ready-made for a sandwich. I also have let Cheezly & Sheese sit around past their use-by too (Cheezly goes mouldy quickly - Sheese never does!) so I'm obviously not that excited by them. $10.50 for a tiny block of Vegusto is expensive, but I might just give some a go. That's interesting that it's Isa's favourite, with all the choice in the US too.

I definitely think the "piquant" flavor is worth it--so delicious!, but I wasn't as thrilled about the other flavors in relation to the price.

I've tried almost all of the flavours, and while I don't care for cheese so much, I like them! My favourite is the piquant, because it's really a lot like parmesan and it's great grated on pasta.
I like the walnut and the herbs in second place, perfect for a sandwich, and I almost disliked the golden one, it had a really weird flavour.

I love Vegusto, especially the herbed variety. It's great on sandwiches, crumbled over risotto etc. My partner is a big dairy cheese lover and he likes it a lot too. It does smell a bit like feet, but so does aged dairy cheese. It's really expensive here too, but since the flavor is pretty strong, you don't need to use much. In our house, the blocks last 2-4 recipes.

If you compare the price to high quality aged dairy cheese, it's not even that much more expensive. For me this stuff really lives up to that kind of quality expectation, while most of the cheaper vegan cheeses just remind me of the plastic-like supermarket Gouda I used to live on in my pregan student days.

We only have Piquant or Mild. Now I want Herb! You're right about the price Cornelie...I used to spend at least that much on a nice bit of Gruyere or Brie. I wouldn't be very happy though if I spent $10.50 & it turned out to be like a Sheese hockey puck, but I guess I'm just going to have to risk it!
