We got our first snow of the season in the mountains! It's just a dusting, but the first snow is always so magical. I know that's not very exciting for a lot of people, but I hate summer and I love fall and winter. I have Siberian Huskies (and a GSD/Boxer mix who's grown up thinking she's a Husky and has been granted honorary Husky status) and they really love fall and winter. They were extra bouncy today. They knew it was coming. If my dogs are happy, then I'm happy. Plus, all my favorite clothes are cool weather clothes.

I bought myself an awesome babycarrier! I have been hardcore LUSTING after a Kinderpack and now I have one and it is BEAUTIFUL. Its going to be my birthday present and I am so excited, I can't stop looking at it and going EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEe! I want it to be here already. ALREADY! Also, it is totally rude to respond to someone's post about them getting an awesome carrier by saying that they want to buy it from you once your kid outgrows it. I am going to be carrying Leela in this when she is 12. Because OMG it is SO FREAKING PRETTY!!!!!

I had a really, really bad day and I thought it couldn't get worse until I spent three hours working on a brief for work and accidentally deleted it. The best thing was having a friend who could tell me how to recover it.

Pretty sure the scary flu is over. I haven't eaten in a week, and tonight miso broth with floating green stuff (kale and seaweed) sounds amazing and totally, totally counts as soup. Nom.

Can I buy it then? I'm sure I will have found someone that wants to mate with me by then.

Dudes! I can eat actual, real, totally counts-as-food food again!* Bring on the soups and baked pumpkin noms!
*I've had the scariest flu ever for the past week, which meant I was only drinking broth and juice. End of fevers = start of soups. Huzzah!

I went to this annual installation art event today, it's held in this huge abandoned semi-underground military bunker on the bigger island off the coast, it's super spooky in the bunker: pitch black interior, the halls were lined with little tea candles, only lit to a degree that you could barely make out the silhouettes of other people in the hall and each room where there was an installation just sort of came in to focus and quickly retreated again as you passed back in to darkness.
It was (weather-wise) a really picturesque foggy cool Maine afternoon, it felt sort of like a movie set in maine or a stephen king novel. we walked away from the show a bit to the shore and it was all choppy waves and dark jagged rocks and seagulls sitting on the water.
AND I saw a seal.
I'm starting to think of portland in the past tense already, it's so much easier to appreciate it as though I've already lived here. knowing I'll be moving at the end of the year has calmed my unrest to a degree that lets me really experience and enjoy everything about this place before I move on. the tinted glasses of the past have shifted over my present, I am glad.

(sorry, too much lil $hmyl)
ever since I got to Portland, I've looked at every supermarket I go to for decent chocolate and I've come up empty handed everywhere.. but today I went to a store pretty close to my place and it has two of my favourite chocolates, and a brand of another of my favourites (though not the actual bar). heaven. seriously. life can continue as normal

I'm shocked. What about Rescue Chocolate at Food Fight? There is none better.

No but seriously, have you tried Rescue Chocolate and deemed it unworthy? Because if so I want to know what this chocolate is that's better, because wow.
