You guys are all such protective mothering spirits and so caring! Unfortunate to have to say that I experienced a late miscarriage on Monday, at 19 weeks and 2 days. Of course it will be awhile, but I want to move past this eventually as I'm sure do others who experience it, and think positive thoughts for the futre....right now, though, I have somne fairly fragile and hollow emotionality going on.

So sorry! My cousin lost her baby girl at around the same time in her pregnancy.

Thanks to all who have offered condolences qnd kept me in their thoughts. It is slow going, getting my head around what happened, and I'm just taking some time. I have irl support, biut you guys are the best, too. I can't compare the two kinds of support, and you here mean a lot to me.

so, i had my home visit with my midwife yesterday, where they come over and check out your place and bring over a few supplies and just make sure everything is okay for a home birth. good news on that front, my outside steps and front hallway are both big enough. it's pretty common in montreal to be risked out of home birth because of tiny apartments with unsafe/cramped front steps and entrances.

i asked her about my plan to drive to toronto next weekend for canadian thanksgiving. i'll be 35 weeks, but it's not a terribly long drive and we'd take it pretty easy, take along my medical paperwork, etc. she immediately said she didn't really recommend it, but it wouldn't be dangerous or anything.

then, we were having the physical exam, and everything is looking great, baby is moving, good heartbeat, measurements, etc etc. the baby is REAAAALLLY low and head down, so the midwife asked me if she could do an internal exam. she kind of gets a little wide eyed, and tells me that i am under no circumstances to go to toronto, and actually, if i can spend a few extra hours in bed every day for the next two weeks, that would be a good thing. i'm a little effaced and dilated, but it's how low down the head is and how open my pelvis is that has her thinking there's no way i'm going to 40 weeks.

so. yeah. i NEED this baby to stay in for at least 2 weeks. 38 weeks would be ideal i think, in terms of being fully cooked and not needing any help after the birth. please keep your fingers crossed that baby stays in and we avoid the NICU!

Good luck LB! I hope you make it to at least 38 weeks and that you get some support in being on bedrest, so its some fun and not too hard on you and Tzippy. That said, it is so exciting to think that your body is getting ready and Babybird is getting ready to leave the nest.

And good sticky vibes to you too, stuckunderhere! At least your baby made it to 38 weeks, healthy and ready to be a sibling!

Happy last weeks of pregnancy to you both!

I'll be 35 weeks tomorrow. 7 more days til I'm clear to stay out of the hospital. If i go into labor between 36-37 weeks i think I'll choose the birthing centre over home. If the baby needs help, Montreal children's sends a team over there.

Which birthing center? I was at the Pte-Claire one til 12wks... but then I had previa, so they couldn't keep me on their patient list for being high risk, and then at 25wks it was gone, but at 28wks I was dx with GD. So I was back on high risk list. It sucks. I really wanted my home or birthing center birth. I'm glad I'm at Lasalle hosp now though. They have a great team for my needs :)

I'm with the cote des neiges midwife center. It's hard to get in but they are great. The first pregnancy was covered through the jeanne mance centre. They are pretty great too. I have a much better choice of hospitals through the cdn centre though.

Ah, gotcha. Yep, I've been trying to get in for the past 3 pregnancies. I always get in around 11wks or so, but then m/c'ed the first 2, and this one, well you know... Maybe something is telling me that's not the right choice for me?
