I've finally figured out when I'll be in Austin - 27 November! It's a Tuesday, so I recognise that might not be entirely convenient for most people, but it's pretty much the only day we can go (my brother can only get time off the week after T'giving, and I have commitments every other day). So, does anyone wanna meet up? Any time is good for us apart from late in the evening since we'll still have to drive back to Dallas - I suspect we'll wanna aim to leave no later than about 7.30pm. I'm happy to go anywhere, and I think my brother is OK with most things (he's omni, but I get to play the "I haven't been home in 6 years" card). I hope some of y'all are available!

Let's do this. That Tuesday should work for me. I'll be at work that day until 5, though I could probably sneak in a lunch if necessary. Is there a place you're wanting to try?

I have no idea! In that there are so many places I want to try that I don't know for sure what I absolutely can't miss. So if there's a place you consider unmissable, I'll go with that! We're doing Biscuits and Groovy for 2nd breakfast (since I'm pretty sure we'll eat a little something before we go), but I'll follow the crowd (even if it's a crowd of one).

The last time I was in Austin, I was only there briefly, pregan, and we ate at IHOP. So let's just say no, I've never been to Austin before!

It looks like no one has Red Rabbit Donuts for sure on a Tuesday. :( Maybe I'll get lucky and someone will be carrying something when I'm there. But I've told my brother that I want to hit Capital City Bakery, so maybe that would be sufficient.
I'm leaning towards The Vegan Yacht for dinner, if only because they have "freeto" pie (which I can't even make for myself in the UK). But Wheatsville has it too...hmm. But if I'm reading the menu correctly, Wheatsville serves meat, and I suspect my brother will eat meat if he's otherwise limited to vegan options, so we can go there earlier in the day if y'all would rather not have to deal with that.

Yep, unfortunately we're not in production on Tuesdays or Wednesdays :( Edited to add: If you go to wheatsville, they may still have some of our donut holes or cinnamon cardamom rolls though as they have a 2 day shelf life vs. one day for our donuts!

Vegan Yacht will have the better frito pie-dish. Both places have outdoor seating, so it may be a bit cold. Lazy Smurf and I both live with nonvegans, so I don't think what your brother orders will be an issue. And there's a bunch of nonvegan joints in the same trailer park as Vegan Yacht, anyway. I just remembered there's a place with vegan donuts in Dallas now. So maybe you can still get donuts. All the donuts at this place are egg- and dairy-free for allergy reasons: http://www.dallasmomsblog.org/the-donut ... n-dallas/#

And whole foods in Austin has doughnuts too.
Wheatsville actually has my favorite frito pie and you should go there no matter what. But the vegan yacht for the meet up would be fun too!

OK, so do we wanna say The Vegan Yacht for the meet-up? What's the best time for everyone? My brother never got back to me about what time we'd have to leave, so I'm just gonna assume it doesn't matter to him. I figure as long as we're on our way home by 8/8.30, we should be good. So can everyone make it for 6/6.30?

6 or 6:30 is fine by me. Earlier is better, though. I'm going to PM you my number in case we have to make alternate plans since carts sometimes close early.

Earlier is better for me - it means we might have time to get dessert! So let's say 6 at The Vegan Yacht. I have mollyjade's number - if anyone else wants to come along, PM one of us your number to stay in the loop in case anything changes!

Well, my grandpa's funeral will be w/b 26 November, so I may or may not be able to do this (I don't know the exact date yet). Is anyone available on Saturday in case I have to change my plans? I'll let y'all know whether or not I can make it when I get to Dallas tomorrow - hopefully we'll have a date by then.

I'm sorry to hear about your grandpa. I'll actually be in DFW on Saturday. We're coming back to Austin some time that day.

Yeah, the memorial service is Monday and the interment is Tuesday, so I'll be going to Nashville Sunday afternoon. I think we're gonna have to give Austin a miss this time around - I still have friends here that I need to meet up with, and the trip to Nashville is gonna eat up most of the last week I'm here. :( Sorry folks!
