Hey guys. We've landed in LA. The food is as awesome as you've imagined. Jealous? :)

Here's the other place I mentioned in Croydon. I have friends who live near there so I've been quite often. http://www.let-them-eat.com.au/ Very inexpensive, the salads are great, not that many vegan options, but at least you do have a choice (vegan & gf desserts too!). Queen Street is such a lovely little spot too.

I'm always up for checking out something new! I'm not often in that area but I'm sure I can stop by!

The food was about the only thing I liked about LA! There was a great little vegan restaurant right across the road from the hostel we stayed in there, and a pizza place down the road that could (and did!) deliver Daiya pizzas to our room.

Yup, we're driving from LA to Seattle, stopping in San Francisco, Portland, etc. Taking us two weeks to get to Seattle.

We're back from Sydney! I'm going to do a blog post soon. The food was definitely a lot less disappointing than last time, but gosh we ate so much.. I think I'm heading for a food coma!
Newtown, Newtown, Newtown. That is all.

Did you go to Basil Pizza & Pasta/Naked Espresso in Newtown? I love that place! :-)

A big thanks to everyone for the recommendations of places to eat in Brisbane, it's much appreciated! Only a few more weeks now until our trip. I may be getting just a little excited! :-)

LittleChicken, what kind of coconut milk were you after? Every supermarket should stock coconut milk but if you want the 'coconut beverage' stuff imported from the US you'd have to go to a specialty store http://www.sodeliciousdairyfree.com/pro ... -beverages

In the CBD I would recommend Vege-rama in the Myer Centre for a quick bite, and it sounds like it might be worth going to Spring (still in the CBD but down the other end in the legal sector, 'Riverside') to get some vegan cake and a coffee! I also like Kuan Yin in Fortitude Valley (suburb next to CBD, easy to get to) for vegan Chinese food and My Heart Garden in St Lucia, which is a little bit out of the CBD. It takes about 15 minutes on the 412 or 411, depending on traffic (add much more travel time for peak hour). It doesn't really take that long to get out to Green Edge on the bus if you wanted to check it out. I just inputted a random time and it looks like it only takes about 20 min: http://jp.translink.com.au/travel-infor ... 1918936475

If you are there over a weekend, you could check out West End markets (also a suburb very close to CBD and easy to get to, buses come all the time, takes maybe 10 minutes depending on where you are in the city). They're on every Saturday. It's a pretty busy mostly-food market, they have vegan pies, empanadas, yummy falafel etc. There is a small market on in the city centre every Wednesday too. The same falafel cart is there and I also really like this dried fruit and nut store, they sell a few yummy nibblies.

Thanks Veglicious! :-) It's So Delicious I'm after. Sadly PAWS in Perth is out-of-stock and they don't expect to have their stock replenished for some time (apparently there's an issue with the labelling which is taking some time to resolve), so hopefully I'll be able to stock up in Brisbane! :-)

Do you know if the West End Markets are open on Sunday? They sound fantastic and I'll definitely have a peek on Wednesday. :-)

Hi LittleChicken -
The Green Edge have the So Delicious Coconut milks, ice creams, etc, etc.

West End Markets are sadly only a Saturday thing - there is the Northey St Organic Markets on Sunday - but I'm rarely impressed by them.

Thanks Matt! You've twisted my arm; I'll have to head out there so that I can stock up (and try some of your baked goods). :-)

We've got several hours to kill on Sunday morning before we're able to check-in to the hotel, so I'll keep the Northey St Markets in mind. :-)

That's fantastic.. I've just posted on that thread to ask whether it's routine and across all stores.

Have you received a response? I'm keeping my fingers crossed it will be! :-)

It is! I saw them confirm on Twitter or something, and they have little signs up at the ordering counter saying which things are vegan.

I noticed the other day that the Mount Lawley store has a sign out the front advertising that they do vegan. I'll have to try them out some time! :-)

LittleChicken - if you're feeling very keen, you could probably walk - I don't remember seeing where you're staying. Northey St isn't *that* far from city/valley - maybe an hour's walk? Green Edge would be maybe two? Or maybe I walk really slow or exaggerate things in my head? ;)

I'm in my mid thirties and didn't watch this series. The characters look familiar, but I couldn't even tell you the name of the show. (I think I follow you on Twitter, by the way!)

I used to watch this show all the time! Didn't they have some silly spin-off version called Feral TV or something? (I seem to remember the opening titles having a lyric like, "It's Rattus the Rat, Modigliana the Cat/They discovered fame and fortune and they're never coming back")

So I read this this morning, and that song has been in my head ALL DAY SINCE THEN. Good job.

I'm so sorry! If it helps, it was stuck in my head too.
Also, I watched an episode of the original Ferals and it was so much more dorkily cool than I remembered.
