That is ridiculous. I would love some Nikes, I saw a few months back on that Vegan Kicks blog that the Air Max 90 canvas were vegan, but I could never find them for sale on a US site. What kind of custom ones were you thinking of getting? I though that it might be possible that they have some synthetic leather options but I haven't looked into it much.

I want the Nike Blazer Mid which has a canvas option. I am going to email customer service to find out for sure. Vegan Kicks said Nike has vegan options which led me to the nikeid page...

Hi all,
I am new to the world of vegan shoes and am a tad overwhelmed. I am looking for a) a pair of black, brown or printed flats that are comfy and have good arch support (I have terrible feet) and pass muster at an office. Also looking for ankle boots, also comfy and with good arch support.
Any ideas, leads, etc?
thanks for your help!

I haven't had a new pair of shoes in years but there are holes all over my old pair so I got some and I'm hoping once again they will last years and years http://www.mooshoes.com/index.php?produ ... &color=BlkVegan and should be sturdy.

fruitbat wrote: Normally I don't? Skopunkten are usually non-leather, but their shoes never fit me. The Nilson shop here is really tiny. All of my current shoes are years old. A pair of Converse, probably from a sports shop (these are responsible for my left fifth toe now being a giant blister after walking around a lot one day earlier this week), Vegetarian Shoes 14-eye boots (rubbish on snow/ice) which I bought when I lived in Stockholm so about 6 or 7 years old but still in excellent condition (they do tend to randomly give me blisters from time to time, though, and I hate the soles), and my day to day shoes which are Salomon trainers that I bought in Finland a few years ago. And yeah, the Salomon shoes don't go with skinny jeans which kind of sucks. I always end up with trainers since they're the only ones available in half sizes (yes, I've tried insoles no, it doesn't work). Well, the flats I got from Skopunkten keep mangling my feet because I have weirdly shaped heels that keep rubbing against shoes and trying to escape from footsie socks, so I guess that doesn't count as fitting. I tried heel grips and bending the back of the shoe to soften it. No luck. I probably have to glue them to myself to prevent friction. I've had this problem with plenty of other shoes though. The above-mentioned ankle boots are fine since there is no seam at the back to scrape off my skin. Just found these at Nilson

Unfortunately they are far too expensive, remembering that I'll have to pay taxes and duties for them.

I want these to replace my last pair, but I don't have the free cash for them. Boo. The other pair (basically same, from same company) still look pretty good, but I've managed to scuff the toes pretty bad. I'm not sure how to make that look better.) http://www.mooshoes.com/index.php?product=BEA-blk&c=4&color=Blk

I just bought these bad boys from Payless. They're regularly priced at $35, but they're having a boot sale, and I had a 20% coupon, so I got them for half off!

I bought two pairs of heels at payless today so I can break them in before I start having eventual job interviews later this year. About $55 for both pairs! These were actually pretty comfy! I just need to add a sticky in the back to keep my heels from escaping since I sized up because to prevent toe squishing. I thought the heel was really neat on these. Also, I think I've finally accepted that I really need wide sizes in shoes. Somehow my feet have expanded with age!

Oh, and does anyone have any good recommendations or experience with odor eating insoles? I'm wondering if adding a special insole would help the fact that plastic doesn't breathe and my feel get all gross.

The shoes last longer, the feet don't sweat/get stinky. Love.

How is the sizing? I'm tempted to get the last pair of 9s, but I'm an 8 1/2 in payless and like a 10 in designer shoes. So I'm worried the 9 will be too small.

I'm coveting vegan Docs too, but these much cheaper and pretty awesome boots from Mod Cloth will do for now. They came in the mail yesterday. They make me 5'9"! I never wear anything resembling a heel but these are fun.

Thessaly - I'd say the sizing is right on. I usually wear a 71/2 (8 in some brands), and got 7 1/2 and it's right on. I did get them from a store though and got to try them on. I like them lots, I had a pair of payless b&w oxfords and these are more breathble and have better support.

Ohhhh.... So I'm not usually a "shoe person" (I own two pairs of shoes right now, and that's been about standard for the past 10-ish years), but this thread is reminding me of how much I loooooove boots, and now I want to buy all the boots (generally big black ones, but there are some exceptions). I have a shoe crush on these: http://www.vegetarian-shoes.co.uk/mens___unisex_boots/vintage_boot_grey_/13737_p.html
