What have you learned or tasted for the first time due to MoFo?

I made compote for the first time. Who knew it was so forgiving and easy?

Vegan mofo made me post comments to blogs for the first time ever. For reals!

I made my first Bakewell tart. It was really easy, especially with pre-made pie crust.

I've done two posts inspired but other VeganMoFo posts so far, I want to make everything that everyone else is making all at once!

I am looking for some Amchoor (unripe mango powder) for a soup. I am really excited to add this spice to my seasoning arsenal. Hope I can find the recipe I read about it on. I have got to start writing this stuff down or bookmarking it.

I'm always thinking about themes for future mofos. For example, I already have 2013 in the works.

Haha, me too! With a year to plan I should be organised by the time next October rolls around... but I know I won't be.

I love the toast theme! If you're inclined to try it, the following gets my current vote for Best Toast of All Time: spread the toast with Earth Balance, a schmear each of Marmite and Coleman's English mustard, and a generous sprinkling of nooch. Place under broiler (or in a toaster oven if you have one) until brown and bubbly. Oh. My. GOD.

I will have to sub everything (even our nooch seems to be different from American nooch), but I'll definitely try a bastardized version of that!

It's making me write down recipes. I never do that anymore!

Vegan MoFo is apparently making me eat dips for dinner every day for a month.

It's making me spend every waking minute wondering what to make with all these stupid ingredients, why the hell I bought them and how can I fit the rest of them in!

I'm pretty close to buying sheets of phyllo and a spaghetti squash because I keep seeing them everywhere in MoFo!

I'm going hunting for a cannonball fruit near my house. Apparently it's smellier than a durian and known as a starvation fruit (as in, so terrible people only eat it if they're stuck in the grips of famine or war). And yet... no website seems to indicate its taste!

Maybe it actually tastes the way durian smells.

I made chocolate pasta tonight! OK, that was less MoFo and more laziness, but still, I blogged about it.

Also, I'm thirding the love for Efcliz's theme. I'm so far behind with my MoFo reading, but I try to read her blog every day.

I was a bit skeptical about putting sweet potatoes in chili. I thought it might make it too sweet. WRONG. This stuff is like food crack. I can't stop eating it. I don't WANT to stop eating it. The only reason I have to is because I need to save some for when the kids come home later tonight.
