I had this theory, because the Doctor keeps saying he'd like to be ginger, that it's going to be Benedict Cumberbatch. But people keep pointing out that the Doctor is getting younger with each regeneration, so maybe not.

I saw this kid (an obvious Matt Smith fan) at the library.

I know they pretty much said it'll never happen, but I still would love to see Benedict Cumberbatch play the Master. He would be perfect.

Is it wrong that I'm almost more excited about the Doctor Who Christmas Special than I am about Christmas?

I've recently gotten special-lady-friend into Dr Who, but she is only in the beginning of season 2. So, I will have to watch an Xmas Ep that won't be super spoilery for her and wait to download it and watch it later. Boooohisssss. Probably won't happen til after New Years cuz she will frequently be around.

I don't consider that spoilery, but I guess the press cover these sorts of things more here than in the US. Dr Who xmas episodes are pretty stand-alone as many more people watch them than watch the regular series and as such they're geared towards that.

Yeah I guess I'm not too worried about finding out who a companion is beforehand. Just so long as they don't say "why" its who it is, I guess that is fine. They are a bit more stand-alone its true! I'm thinking Voyage of the Damned...

Or it could be like "The End of Time" (but it won't be).

Mr. Shankly wrote: Or it could be like "The End of Time" (but it won't be). Well, aye, but that was a bit different as Tennant's coupon was up (as you infer) They're usually stand alone as they attract the casual viewer, in the UK at least (where it matters)- there was a difference of about 4 million viewers between last years' xmas special and the (lesser viewed) new series' premier. I'm too lazy to look up overall averages, but anecdotally there are a lot more people here who watch the xmas day things *because* they're an xmas day thing and thus they are in general aimed at people with less back-story knowledge. Other than the back-story knowledge that everyone here has because, y'know, it's Dr forking Who.

I still think it would be fine, though. Not any big spoilers.

Reaction to the Christmas special under the cut. Holy crepe that was SO good, I think this might be one of my favorite Christmas specials and I really like the new companion so far. We also got to see the sneak preview trailer for the rest of the season and I'm super excited. Also, psychotic potato dwarf!

Also, leave it to Moffat to kill a character twice before she's even a permanent, full time character! Joss Whedon kills individual people, Steven Moffat kills the same character over and over again.

Haha, yes! Also: My sister is totally on the "Clara is Jenny" bandwagon, but I've had my doubts, and after this ep I really don't think so... but, you never know! Moffat is one sneaky mustard.
