I don't really dress up...ever...so this is kind of an alien experience for me, but I need to get formal clothes. Specifically I need to get a tuxedo, for choir, and I need to get a sports jacket, for my cousin's Bat Mitzvah, and since I've never bought these things before, I am only just now finding out that they're normally made of wool. I can hardly find regular clothes that fit me (I'm short and fat, which apparently is not a size that exists in clothing) so I imagine this is going to be nightmare. Where do I even begin to look for this sort of clothing in vegan materials? Should I just give up and try to buy secondhand stuff and get it tailored? I have no idea what I'm doing. Help!

Usually for suiting if you go cheaper you get synthetics. Asos has some reasonably priced non wool blazers that I think go to an XXL http://us.asos.com/Men-Suits-Blazers/xx ... 20&sort=-1 I also know that women's suiting stores like Ann Taylor will always have a synthetic option as a part of their suiting collection. But either way, if you find something thrift it will be a whole lot more affordable!

Department stores are pretty good about having lower-end suits that aren't made of wool. My husband needed a suit for job interviews, and there was a lot of checking out different places and trying things on, but we found a few options out there.

Kohls and JCpenney are usually pretty reasonable for vegan suits and things. That's where my husband buys his stuff usually.

Personally, I would go to a thrift store and I would try on a variety of jackets, both men's and women's. They don't fit exactly the same. It might be easier to do that in a thrift store.
