  (Trying to get both dogs to stand still was impossible! But they are getting along okay and they only met 5 min ago.) So, basic info: Collie, female, never lived in a house. Which is okay with me, because Sable was the same when I got her. And this dog is socialised to people, so that's not a problem. And this is so weird, you guys: After Sable died, my mom had a dream that Sable was showing her a bunch of collies and saying "9 months, 9 months". After we met this dog and decided we were very interested in her, we asked the age, and she is 9 months old! So my mom thinks Sable sent her to us.

My dad is trying to play with her. I keep telling him that she's not comfortable enough to play right now, but he's just like ""Maybe she'll like a ball! Or the rope! Wait, maybe the squeaky toy!" And Basko is so excited he is making awful high-pitched screeching noises and keeps trying to kiss her face.

Also because my mom thinks everything is a sign.) but then she was renamed Smiles. She responds to Smiles, but I want to change it. Just have to think of the right name first! Basko is super excited. He loves girl dogs so much. He was really depressed after Sable died. He has always lived with at least one other dog, and he didn't like being the only one. So he is super psyched now!

Sable totally sent her to you guys.
it seems like in the video she is getting more into toys and playing. Basko is walking around like "hey what about me dudes, i got this toy right here!"
i can hear him squealing in the background.
that's great they get along so well. the concept of dogs liking other dogs is so foreign to me :-/
looks like she is settling in nicely. :-) congrats!!!!

I'm hoping she is tired enough she'll fall asleep tonight! She hasn't been in a crate before (she was kept in an x-pen when inside at the last house). But I can't leave her free because she has never properly lived in a house before and will try to eat everything possible (most of this evening was spent trying to keep her from eating things like filing cabinets and kleenex (she even managed to pull open a cupboard using her mouth!)). So I'm sitting next to her crate now and she's crying a little and I feel bad. She went from living mostly outside with a lot of other dogs to being inside a strange house with strange people and only one other dog. Poor puppy. I worked on tossing treats in the crate earlier today and getting her to go in. But I don't have enough time to really get her acclimated because she needs to be in the crate when I can't be directly supervising her, like when I'm asleep!
