I might give this a try next time I have some fresh chilies.

I was wondering if those probiotic pills would also be a good culture? It sounds like chiles are prone to bacteria which is why the stems are good cultures.

Alright, i also live in a place where there are no vegan cultures. i am waiting to get some "chibikos" (like kefir grains) to start to culture soymilk, but they are grown in cow milk. sadface. i figure it's better than buying cow yogurt to mix into my yogurt- at least i can rinse the chibikos.

i tried this thing with the chilies a few weeks back. i only used a few, and it worked quite well- the yogurt set almost like jello. The problem was, it was not yogurty or tangy in any way, it was simply solidified milk (peanut milk, in this case. not sure if it had anything to do with peanut or not).
i'd love to hear if anyone else had experiences like mine.

I've found a place in Aus that sells vegan culture http://www.greenlivingaustralia.com.au/ ... directions & I just took a look at this statement that shows it's made in Italy. Perhaps it's available elsewhere? http://www.greenlivingaustralia.com.au/ ... tement.pdf
