Too true! I am starting to scout around for stuff for L and me to do indoors for free. There are a bunch of awesome toddler gyms that I never knew existed, but you need to pay a monthly access fee. What a great business opportunity!

I am fine with coming in on 10/21 - whatever works for flava and all the NYCers. I definitely don't think 10/20 is set in stone.
I'm in NYC for the walk, and superpsyched for it though! I hope I see some PPKers and get to be all awkward.

10/21 won't work for me anyway. I have a weekend long "retreat" with 40 7th graders and their parents.

If it turns out not to suck on Sunday, we could do an impromptu hang out with JENNA etc in NJ. Maybe Brookdale?
The rain is just not my jam. ::ironic GP accent::

That weekend would work for us too. If it works for everyone why don't we try for the 20th after the walk?

So excited! I think we'll be planning on getting into the city (if everything goes well, dear god) around 2:30-3 that day. Is there anywhere we can meet you guys that's easy for us to find, and where it's easy to park?

They tend to have more of a drop-in model. The one by us has 4 hours a day (10am-2pm) of supervised play where a 2 hour play pass is $4.50, and outside those hours I think an unsupervised play pass is $2-ish. It's not free but at least you don't need a membership..

There is one near us with a $90 membership after which you pay an hourly rate. Nyet. I think the downside of being in the NY/NJ area is that rents are so high. We are members of 2 great meet-up groups, so we have some playdates at people's homes.

Woah, that's crazy!
I really wish there were more/better drop-in childcare options. All the options seem to be connected to an activity and involve me staying onsite...and I feel like The Vegan Thing adds a layer of complication. Like tonight baby gym had a parents' night out childcare event. My husband's not around anyway, but I would've liked a night out with friends.. but it was a pizza party, so..yeaaaah, try telling a 14 month old she can't eat this or that.

So when and where are we meeting the Flavabean family? You are driving down from Maine (8hr drive!) so we want to work with your schedule/availability. I am happy to hang out after the walk for a bit but probably need to head back home by around 5pm. We are in the Farm Sanctuary Walk and we are the Montclair Vegan team (and anyone is more than welcome to join us): http://events.walkforfarmanimals.org/in ... eamID=6013Walk Details Central Park; Merchant's Gate (Manhattan, NY) October 20, 2012 Check-in: 9:30 AM Walk: 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM We definitely want to see you and are available during the week for vegan funtimes, so just let us know!

We still want to meetup with you guys! I think we'll be able to be there a little after 3:00 or so. Is there somewhere easy we can meet? Tofulish, I'll send you our cell phone number, so we can connect once we're down there and have a bit of a better idea of timing and all.

Cool! I pm'ed you my cell through FB and will do it through here.
I don't really know what is easy, but if the walk is over at 2, I can make it anywhere on the island. We've had good luck finding eachother at Madison Square Park 25th and Madison Avenue, but really I am fine with anything.
How long are you in town?

I was looking forward to this, but tonight I'm doubtful that anyone would want me to come...I've got this terrible cold I can't seem to shake. Babynut gave it to me, and she's over it now but I'm not getting any better. Today is day four and I thought the worst of it would be over but I felt like shiitake all day and came home early to go straight to bed. Blah.

See how you feel on Saturday! If you are up for it, come! I'd love to see you and hear about your trip and see Babynut, who is impossibly adorable!

I think we could find Madison Square Park. That'll be nice too, after a long trip. Tofulish, I'll be in touch as we head down!

We should be able to get there around 3. Maybe earlier, depending on nap (I basically need to nap with Ada to make it through the day :-) ).

ooh I think I'm still available for this - we were thinking of attending a fall festival thing over on the waterfront in Williamsburg but that would be beforehand. I'll figure it out soonish.

I am available before 3pm too and would love to see people! The Walk for Farm Animals is from 11 to noon, and then I am free. So if anyone wants to meet up before 3 let me know! For meeting up at Madison Square Park, we should meet at the Admiral David Farragut Monument at the north end of Madison Square Park, right outside the playground. I am hoping the lawn will still be open - they seem to have been closing it more and more for concerts, but if not, we can always have some playground time and the park is still really lovely. http://www.madisonsquarepark.org/about-the-parkPlus it is going to be a gorgeous day!

We are finally associating with the rest of humanity (after our terrible colds have abated) so we can be there at three.
