So, we've been doing baby sign and A. looked at me the other day and signed "milk." It was so sweet and heart melting to think she's communicating a direct though without like grabbing at my boob. lol...

Yesterday, I was starting to clean up after breakfast. At the sink, I hear this swooshy plastic sound and see that Freya has snagged the punnet of blueberries that I'd left on the table. She's holding them *very* closely, one arm wrapped around the box. I come close to her face and say quietly "what did you find?", smiling. She smiles back an enormous grin and hands me a blueberry which I snatch from her fingers with my teeth. She finds this insanely funny and continues feeding me blueberries, giggling with glee.
Later, after a long nap/nurse session, she is mostly awake but still thinking about/messing with boobies a little. I roll onto my back, which is usually a sign that we're done nursing. She scooches closer, props herself up on her arms and attacks the boob closest to her. She latches fine, but I'm laughing so much that she starts laughing too. Then of course, she thinks it's funny and has to do it again. This all from the child who four or five months ago would've been crying for me to take boobies away.
Today, we started back, just one after school session a week with one of my nanny girls. Freya, whose schedule got all messed up this morning, came to school pickup at 3:15 having had no nap. She was very very tired, but she is absolutely in love with Baby and played and played and played. Only cried when it was time to leave (and then just a little). Nibbled on her Swedish toast and was out in like ten minutes. These are the days when I am sure that we have to have at least two munchkins (though I am so exhausted I think I may not be able to walk up the stairs to bed)

This is maybe a sweet moment with siblings moment but this is the closest thread:
The other day the Magician just would not go down for a nap. I tried everything for about an hour and then started to panic because I needed to get ready to go to my classes. So I decided to put him in his pack and play totally awake. I told the Emperor that M would probably cry a little but I'd be right in the next room showering and would be back in 5 minutes and it was okay if M cried a little.
So flash forward to 5 minutes later. I step out of the shower, bracing for the sounds of crying and instead I hear.... Laughter? Baby laughter? Soooo I go out to see what's going on.
The Emperor had pulled a chair up next to the pack and play and was reading/singing Pete Seeger's Abiyoyo to the Magician. They were both laughing hysterically and totally having a moment.
(I naturally crept back out and got dressed while everyone was happy and entertained.)

That is wonderful. What a lovely moment!
Can I tell you, I laugh every time I hear the "Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed" because of your post on FB that after 5 monkeys there is no way that mom is calling the MD, she's just sneaking into the kitchen for a cup of coffee.
I guess we need a thread called "Sweet Moments with C&S"

Mama called the doctor and the doctor said, no more monkeys jumping on the bed. Oh and he also said stop poking your brother and pick up your toys when you're done playing. *sips coffee*

Oh, love the Abiyoyo tale. (also one of my most favorite books...loved Baby G, at age 3, explaining to some random stranger on the bus about the word "ostracized"). Heh.
My favorite moment lately was yesterday when Freya was nursing and stopped and had this weird intake of breath. This often means that she's about to chomp down on me, but we haven't had any intentional biting in maybe 3-4 days so I waited to see if she was just maybe have trouble breathing from the cold, etc. About 5 seconds later, she blows this giant zerbert right on my boob, and then looks at me all smiley/laughing. Good stuff.
Also in love with her now saying "go go" as she butt-shuffles across the floor.

Good stuff. Raygold had a cold about a week-afortnight ago and totally did that to me every night!! He would crack himself (and eventually me) up laughing while boob-zerbeting me over and over again.

Malka pointing to herself and saying "baby" and on another occasion, pointing at pictures of a friend's baby on Facebook and saying "baby" again and again. With perfect pronunciation! Kid might actually be learning to talk, even though I'm still not sure she knows her name!

CC, that's funny that they both did it with colds. I think Freya's just realizing recently that you can do it in all different places on your body. We have arm zerberts, forehead zerberts, foot zerberts....lots of saliva at our house lately.
Yay for Malka. I didn't realize how much I would enjoy those first few words. Working at Baby G's house yesterday, they had some guests, and one of them recognized Freya saying "dog" (or "gog", her approximation of "dog"). I was trying not to be all "yes! She's awesome isn't she?!"

I can't tell you how excited I am about the talking. She didn't have the words the pediatrician suggested she would by a year (mama, dada, hi, bye) - she had one word "ball," which she gave up after a couple days. But now at 13.5 months, she's got baby, ball, balloon, (almost) book, woof, dog, hi, bye, occasionally daddy, she understands and follows simple commands, and I swear to God she said "hi dog" today. She does not respond to her name with any regularity and that was making me so extremely anxious.

This morning Zephyr was crying, and I was about to take him for his nap, when Iz decided he wanted to sing the "Isaiah loves Zephyr" song. So he did. And Z just lit up and starting cooing and smiling like crazy. These two are going to be best buds.

Leela pranked me! I left the babygates to the kitchen open and she hurried through to get to the ne plus ultra baby toy - the dog bowl - but then stopped. She signed to me to come to her and then when I got there, closed the baby gate in my face. And then stood there laughing.
Its always heartening to realize that your wiseass genes are going to live on.
Baby pranks. THE BEST

Yesterday while I was making breakfast I heard Walter playing in the cupboard where I keep the placemats and napkins. I didn't check on him because he plays in there all the time. When I went into the dining room with our breakfast, I saw this: He'd set the table by himself, without being asked! The only thing that was on the table to start was the red placemat on the left side; he picked out the other red placemats and napkins (plus one brown) to match! I am flabbergasted.

Um, that is awesome. Next time you go in he'll be lovingly setting out a candle-lit dinner.
