I was going to post this in another thread, but I decided to make a new one so everyone reads it:
I know that having a lot of cookbook authors on our forums can be a little intimidating because you don't want to insult them*, but it's okay to say you didn't like a recipe or had problems or don't like the layout or whatever. As you can see, they're usually cool about it (and I don't think people on here usually say 'this book sucks balls' or anything so mean), so you don't have to apologize for stating your opinion! And if an author did come on here and get nasty with people, we wouldn't let them treat anyone like that anyway.
tl;dr, please express your opinions about books freely! That's what this part of the forums is for, and if everyone is worried about being nice, we can't really have an honest dialogue about which books are the best and which ones aren't.
*except for Isa, everyone insults her willy nilly.

I've never had her willy nilly. I guess it can't be very good if people keep insulting it.

i always thought the problem with VWAV was too much willy. I mean, honestly, more than one willy in a crepe is not an easy task.

What if 'this book sucks balls' is like your version of highest praise? Maybe 'this book sucks willies' would be better.

I don't know why Isa claims to be vegan yet uses white sugar and white flour in many of her recipes. And how dare she use oil in her recipes. Vegan? I think not.
Also, red food coloring? Is she trying to get people to eat bugs now?

Its the result of our politically correct social climate. People are afraid to say what they really feel/think. They can say it respectfully, without being snotty, but for some reason most of them don't.

nah. they just don't want the authors to start disliking them. nothing with PC at all. (unless the author is a minority, or a woman, i suppose. let's start bashing the sexy vegan!!!!)
(i on the other hand don't mind too much that everyone *minus a few people* already hate me, so constructive criticism for everyone!!! yay!)

Well, ok, maybe "political correctness" wasn't the right term to use here...what I was trying to say was similar to what Supercarrot said--I agree that people dont want others to dislike them...they are afraid for people to dislike them for expressing their honest opinion. I do think it is indicative of a larger (general) problem in society though. People are afraid of negativity-both giving and receiving it. :/
