Whole Foods has little packs of Koyo ramen that appear to be vegan, also Annie Chun's Spring Vegetable ramen that looks vegan. Do you like spicy? You might try Joong Boo Market on Kimball. I think they have a few vegan varieties there. These are just suggestions, as I have a steady supply of vegan ramen from Korea from my aunt. If you were coming to the potluck this Sunday, I'd share some with you! :p Thanks! I was actually looking for something to eat at a restaurant (ala Souen in NYC) but I might have to break down and make some myself. I'll make it to a meetup one of these days!

Love your blog Jeni! I posted a few pics in Food Porn too.
We should decide on a time/location for out next restaurant meetup. And I'm already so excited for gingerbread houses in December!!!

Thanks! :)
We should definitely decided the date for the next restaurant meetup. Maybe the first part of November? Is there a particular place that anyone wants to go to?

Oh my well I missed the potluck but I love all of the Chicago standards like the Diner and let's see it used to be Ian's but I think it's Dimo's now. I'm open to anything and I really wanna try and make it out!

How about a Friday evening, either Nov 2 or 9? I'm up for going anywhere. We talked about Urban Vegan, or the Diner or Native Foods? That's all I can think of right now. Oh, and apparently, being cute is exhausting. After our potluck, I found this in my bed:

Does anybody have a restaurant preference? Jenn

Mmmm I prefer I think the Diner and Urban Vegan to Native Foods but that is solely based upon the fact that Native Foods is near my office and I eat there maybe once a week and don't usually get out to those ones except every few months. But I still love me some Native Foods if that's the favorite :)
ALSO, I'm understudying a show so I'd be out for November 2nd, but if we do November 9th I'm down like a clown.

How about we go to Urban Vegan on November 9th after 7! Does this work for everyone?

Works for me too!
Do we want to go the original Urban Vegan location, or check out the new location on Fullerton? Anyone have a preference?

I'll be in Chicago from the (early) morning of Sunday 18 November - early afternoon of Monday 19 November.
1) Where (besides the Diner) must I visit? 2) Does anyone know of any cool cheap/free things to do? 3) I know you're planning a meet-up for the week before, but I'd love to meet up with anyone who's free!

Do we want to start thinking about the date for the December potluck? I know that it is early now, but maybe with advance notice more people will come!
I can't do December 1st or the 16th.

Hey Chicago
I will be there Tues night staying downtown by the Art Institute. Where should I go to eat if I have time thats within walking distance or subway or whatever.
Edit - Looks like Im right by a Native Foods, but if I have time (i think i will) i should probably hit the Chicago Diner right? I mean, thats THE place to go in town if I am correct?

I have left my datebook in my car like an idiot for about a week now so I don't know about that date just yet.
Urban Vegan--new location sounds great to me!

More for Adam Crisis: Oh my, well the art institute in and of itself is a blast. I would recommend walking around a fun neighborhood--I love walking on N Milwaukee in Wicker Park, lots of resale shops, record stores, awesome coffee/food places. It's right off the Damen Blue line.

Chicago Diner is no joke. That place ruled. I had the tortilla soup, the appetizer sampler of fried banana peppers, sweet potato fries, and hush puppies. Then followed it up with the rueben with mac and cheese. All killer (although I think the native foods rueben is a little tastier...though both rule). Got some awesome coffee and cake to go as I waddled back to the subway
If I had more time today I would have hit up the Science Museum, but instead I grabbed a latte at Intelligencia Coffee and just walked North from Downtown into the North Side. I like you Chicago. Stoked on 42 degrees too...how often do I get to wear my beanie?
