It is one of our hottest days of the years and most of our county is out of electricity due to a storm last night. Another storm is expected tonight. I'm just hoping no one dies due to the heat.

We've been thinking that all day as well. Especially since people aren't quite as used to heat in this region as in other parts of the country.

I've had emails that they opened a few schools as cooling centers and are giving out water. That doesn't help people who aren't mobile though.

Yeah and I went to look to see where power has been restored. Apparently 12 people died across multiple states last night due to the storm.

Our county opened cooling centers and encouraged residents to go there and the local libraries. It sounded like the libraries were going to have extended hours.

We are still under water restrictions but it sounds like it is due to one of our major water stations having lost power and they are concerned about hospitals having enough water.

My husband went and bought water earlier today though for us just in case something worse happens. He said there were a few people stocking up on water.

In other news, the grocery store no longer carries so delicious ice cream sandwiches.

I had a week of lovely weather down in England- hot and sunny, but not hot enough to be horrible.
Now I'm having pretty nice weather with occasional showers. Yay!

The weather is starting to really make everyone super irritable.

i've had like 4 or 5 migraines this week. it's forking hot. and really forking humid.

Yup. It's raining here again. I can't believe it. I've never known such wet weather for so long. It wasn't even forecast today.

It's so cold already, the high today was 8 C (46 F). I wanna go back to Texas.

We aren't getting rain yet but it's already windy. Estimated 2 hours until rain. I remember when hurricane Irene came, I took a walk right before the rain started and the clouds were amazing but right now all I got outside is grey. As long as our backyard keeps draining down the hill, we should be ok. Crossing my fingers that everyone stays safe.

my mother is so afraid about this storm. since the last time her basement flooded, she's replaced her boiler, her water softener and something else down there- now she's afraid she's going to lose it all again. I wish I were there, i'd sit there and run a pump all night.

My school already closed Monday and Tuesday, and nothing's even happened yet.

im in Central MA and i dont expect the storm to do much here other than tons of downpour and maybe some high winds.
i fully expect i will have to drag my asparagus to work tomorrow in the downpour and there will probably be no electricity there but i will still be expected to be there.

just in case is does get bad i turned my piggie quarantine cage into an evacuation cage and got a bag of extra fleece and towels for them. got a bag of pellets and an extra bag of vitamin C.
for the pups we bought an extra bag of kibble and i packed a bag with the crazy dog's mat (training purposes), his meds, two bags of dog treats, etc.

the humans are screwed. i put some bottles of water in the fridge and baked a pie. i have a slow cooker cooking so im hoping we dont lose power anytime in the next 6 hours.

it's just yucky here. misting very heavily but that's about it. i think the actual storm is supposed to hit here tonight or tomorrow.

It's 90 f*cking degrees here today. I"m over it. Want some cooler temps.

I hear you. It was high 70s here, and it just doesn't feel like fall at all. I need a good excuse to sit on the sofa with a cup of coffee and a good book. Instead, I felt compelled to do yardwork. Sigh.

I know! I'm ready for boots and sweaters! I heard you guys a a bug earthquake today too! We had a small one this morning.

That's beautiful! I'm a little bit jealous, but also have an irrational fear of walking/driving in the ice and snow, so I'd have to just enjoy it from a window as I sip hot chocolate... Haha.

It was sort of like that here on Monday morning, but it's mostly brown slush and ice now. Our local council gritted the main roads but not the side roads or the pavements. My little housing estate is a partial ice rink and picking my way to the bus stop at 7.30am like Bambi is getting tiresome. We're due more snow on Friday and Saturday so I think I'll hunt for some grips for my boots tomorrow!

I'm cold! and everyone is excited about snow but I'm not because driving on an icy road is bad enough but people are morons when there is 1mm of snow on the ground and drive like idiots. Even more than they already do.

Plus the snow we get is pathetic. If I can't make a snowman out of it, then it's worthless in my book!
