I will be working on my NaNo Novel from last year which pretty well has to be re-written entirely anyway and I've already begun work on that. I'm going to ignore the minimum word count this year (unless I'm writing a new scene, in which case I'll enforce it upon myself) and take weekends off this year. I will be partaking of Nano threads on the PPK for encouragement and inspiration!

It's been several years since I tried to NaNo, for some reason November never seemed to work out for me. It's been ages since I've tried to be creative, but I really want to try this year. I've got nothing going on, and work has been cutting hours, so I'm in. I think I'll just pick an idea on the first and run with it. I tried to think too hard about the plot when I tried all those years ago and lost myself in the small details before I really got going.

I'll also be working on a work in progress, but even starting fresh I think 50,000 words is too high an aim for me. Still, I like the friendly pressure!

I didn't do NaNoWriMo last year, but I'm definitely going to do it this year!
I just have no idea what I'll be writing. I need another Great Unfinished Novel like I need a hole in my shoes, but I've never managed to not start a whole new project for NaNo, even when I'd promised myself I'd 'cheat' and just finish a novel instead...

I think I'm going to do my own version where it's NaGraNoWriMo where the goal is to get an entire script for a graphic novel (really just series of comics, knowing myself) done in one month and then do all the art for it before the end of january.

Pretty sure if you do this, you'll end up starting a movement :D

i'm doing it this year. my friend and i want to start some kind of group meeting for NaNoWriMo writers in our area, but it'll probably just end up being me and him.

i've got an idea, but i'm purposely keeping it as such until the 1st. i like the idea of just an all-out creative/work process and flying by the seat of my pants, taking up basically another full-time job, for one month. it'll probably be crazy, but i'm looking forward to that aspect.

i personally don't like the idea of trying to start up something unfinished. i tried that one year and simply couldn't finish for the reason i'd stopped before. i'm hoping that with starting something new, with an idea that excites me and really drives my creative process in a demanding way, it will provoke me to continue after the month is over.

This is my first year! Long time writer. Long time procrastinator. I've done my best work in Creative Writing classrooms, and not much of anything since, so I'm really excited. Unfortunately I don't have a Great Big Idea right now, but I'm hoping something comes to me in the next 1-3 days. ;) So happy to see some PPKers are participating this year!

I'm already starting some of my Nano work habits (i.e., pasting where I left off the day before into a new file dated for the next day so I can see right where I left off and have a file of blank pages waiting for me to fill on my laptop and so I'd feel guilty for not filling it when tomorrow comes, right? Right.)

I'm doing it this year... and I'm dragging my two creative writing classes along with me! We're doing the Young Writers Program in class, and I'm really excited to see what comes of it. I don't know how it's going to go, so we'll see. But I'm hopeful.

I expect that this year, like last year, I won't have anywhere near enough time to get through my novel thanks to teaching, but I'm going to try.

This year I'm trying something new. I'm going to write 15-30 shorts stories starring the characters from last year's novel. The stories won't be linked to anything. The first stories will introduce the characters, but I don't think there will be any flow between them, because some characters will get murdered, but will be back later in other stories. So far the stories are horror/sci-fi/fantasy

This year I got this. I've started a wee little character map to get me ready.

Word Count=0 and i have friends posting on facebook saying they've written 1000 words or 1700 words and I'm like waaaaaaaaahhhhhh. But I had to get up at 5:30 to go to work and I'll write for two hours this evening, so that will hopefully get me ~1700-2000 words. Here's to staying abreast while I'm running around doing GISHWHES and have a retreat this weekend (and have to bike 40 miles on Saturday away and back to retreat for something else).

I was expecting to be busy all afternoon at school, but everything has been postponed til tomorrow, so my plan is to start writing furiously after lunch...

2005 words! More than half of those were self referential and not related to the story progression, but that's the sort of thing I can edit out in December.

^Woot! Good going! I'll do my words later this evening as I can't write Thursday mornings due to my work sitch so I write Thurs evenings.

Most of my words when I'm Nanoing are junk, too. For me, it's all about moving the story forward, plowing through. All refinements and smaller details and quality of expression get worried about when editing in the future.

Oh shiitake, it's November.

I think it's probably in my best interests to just grab something I've already got going (too many projects, too many projects, too many projects) but of the too many projects the only one that's grabbing my attention is the one that is so not-off-the-ground it might as well be an entirely new idea...
