okay, i've been indulging in lemon zest luna bars on ocassion, but i think i've been having them a bit more frequently than usual because now i just find the taste meh. (initially i loved them)

i'm allergic to all nuts which makes finding a snack/nutrition bar a bit hard. anyone have any ideas for me? i really want the snack/nutrition/fruit bar to have a variety of vitamins in it too and a good dose of protein, just like the luna bars.

seeds should be okay (my allergist did not say otherwise) and thankfully at this point in time i am not sensitive to foods made on shared equipment.

they are convenient to keep handy in my purse if i'm on the go, and they do make a filling afternoon snack. i'm sure i could make my own something, but i'm looking for the convenience of a pre-made item in its own wrapper, etc...

Are lemon zest Luna bars the only nut-free ones? This isn't super-helpful, but you could have other flavors of Luna bars. I freaking love Luna bars, but would get sick of eating the same flavor every day.

Assuming you're not allergic to sunflower seeds, little packs of those would be a filling, on-the-go snack (unless you're really sensitive, as most sunflower seeds are probably processed on the same equipment as nuts). Or you could buy them in bulk, and then make trail mix with your favorite dried fruits, chocolate pieces, etc.

yes, i'm the kind of person who eats same ol' same ol' for breakfast + lunch + snacks until i'm sick of it. i change it up nearly daily for dinner though, i love trying new dinner recipes! and i try out "fancy" lunch recipes on the weekend when i have more time.

i've checked out other luna bars and they do seem to have nuts in them, or if they are nut-free, the chocolate is not vegan.

Luna Fiber Blueberry is nut free....Also a few of the Clif Z bars should be OK like the Iced Oatmeal.

I have not tried these but Oh She Glows is always awesome with recipes. Here is one with a nut free option:

thanks for the tip! i have not seen luna fiber blueberry bars, or maybe i'm not looking hard enough. don't think i need extra fiber above and beyond what i consume naturally throughout the day, but i'll take a peek at the nutrition label. thanks for the tip about the iced oatmeal too from clif z. yay for new flavors!

thanks for the recipe link, i'm not specifically looking to make my own bars from scratch, but her bars look yummy. wonder what i could sub for the 1/2 cup unsweetened coconut? i'm not allergic, just not a huge coconut fan.

I might be wrong, but I thought all the chocolate-y Luna bars were vegan?

Have you checked out Vega bars? They're really delicious - I especially like the chocolate coconut flavour, but I see you're not a huge coconut fan. I THINK they're nut free, but I will check.

They are nut free - they have pumpkin seeds and savi seeds (whatever those are).

I do not need the extra fiber either but have one every morning! I like 'em a lot. These look to be nut free from Luna/Clif:

Luna:
Chocolate peppermint Stick
Blueberry Bliss
Fiber - Chocolate Raspberry

Clif:
Peppermint Stick
Carrot Cake
Builder: Chocolate Chip

As for dairy in Luna - I think the Luna protein bars have dairy!

thanks guys for the extra info about luna and clif, so glad to know the choc in them is vegan, yay!

i didn't know there was actually a luna protein bar. the lemon zest bars do have a good amount of protein them, and i've read the ingredients thoroughly, no dairy, so the lemon zest bar must not be an actual protein bar. perhaps it's labeled a nutrition bar? anyway, will definitely check out the nut-free suggestions above next time i'm at store, thanks so much!

You think correctly! I bought some earlier in the year and took one bite and knew it required a label check. Prior to that I thought all Clif/Luna bars were vegan except for the Honey Graham ZBars.

Anyway, here's a handy dandy bar finder on Clif's website:
http://www.clifbar.com/food/find_compare/

eta: I just looked and nuts are listed with seeds, so that's not very helpful since it takes away practically everything.

Ya, I went through the Clif/Luna site and pulled anything that looked vegan & nut free. Also I believe the crispy Z bars have honey or dairy...And Luna has a honey - something bar...

Some vegan varieties of Nugo seem to be nut free. The pretzel one is good:

Some of the NuGo bars may meet your needs. While not packed with nutrients, they do have 10 g of protein. The chocolate mint(like a thin mint cookie!) and chocolate pretzel are awesome! http://store.nugonutrition.com/category/dark.html

Yeah, peanut honey pretzel. . . booo Luna, would it really be that difficult to make it peanut-agave-pretzel instead?

Also, +1 yummy on the NuGo bars. . . I love all of the ones that I've tried.

Honey has a strong, particular flavour. Agave... much less so. I never much cared for milk, eggs or cheese, but (local) honey is something I miss and very occasionally turn a blind eye to.
