Guys, I am giving a presentation at Vegan Vida Con in a week at the Seattle Public Library (along with a bunch of other tech-y vegans!) and I am working on what I should do and say for 45 minutes to inform and entertain people. I'm not a strong public speaker (I am a quiet hermit), but I really enjoy filming short clips and making short videos, just to look back on or share with friends.

So, my speech/presentation will be all about making videos, and uploading and sharing them. I'm planning on actually making a video during the presentation in iMovie, and narrating the how-to as I go. I feel like 45 minutes of that would possibly get boring, so I'm trying to think of tips and other talking points. A couple I've come up with so far regarding actually shooting video are:

-Try new angles. If you haven’t before, try putting your camera about 6 inches underneath some foliage, and press record. Utilize your macro button in situations like this! It’s the one shaped like a flower on most cameras. Hold your camera steady for 10 seconds or however long you like. It might take a few tries, but shots like this usually turn out beautifully, and the perspective is unusual and striking. If it’s a sunny day, you can capture super vivid color this way. This kind of shooting works really well with leaves and flowers.

-Get down at eye level with your subject. If you’re recording footage of a puppy or a baby, sit down on the floor at their level instead of only taking video from a few feet above them. Different perspectives are interesting. It’s neat to see the world from another level.

I just wondered if you guys were attending said presentation, are there any things you would definitely want to have explained, or any questions you'd have? Or do you make videos yourself and have any fun tricks that you think I should pass on?

Thanks!
