I don't like stevia and I don't like cilantro.

(Since we were talking about this in the vegan peeves thread)

I am pro-cilantro but anti-stevia. Stevia leaves icktastic aftertaste just like sugar alcohol sweeteners... but at least doesn't leave me with wrenching gut pain. Still avoiding, though

Stevia is disgusting. The only thing that has stevia in it that doesn't taste like total asparagus is the Silk light chocolate soymilk, and that's because it also has sugar, and more sugar than stevia. If you want a chocolate milk that tastes like a cheap kiddie milk, that's the stuff.

Stevia tastes like opening your presents on Christmas morning and finding only socks.

Stevia sucks. Cilantro is delicious.

Stevia is TOLERABLE in chai tea. At times. With soy milk that doesn't have stevia added.

Vega is great. Even worth the price for an all around protien + vitamin shake, that I can mix at my desk with just soymilk or water.

but it has STEVIA. blah. it is so gross. Really hard to choke that shiitake down.

stupid stevia. hate you.

Stevia tastes the way antifreeze smells.

And it's in forking EVERYTHING! I was pondering the juice row at the grocery store the other day and all of the "no sugar added!" juices all had forking stevia in them. It used to be that "no sugar added" juices were sweetened with other, sweeter fruit juices. So maybe cranberry would have pear or grape added to sweeten it. But now everything is forking stevia, and I hate it.

So, Vega has stevia in it? Is that what all those drink mixes have? IS THAT WHY THEY SUCK?!

Okay, I'm in then. fork you stevia indeed.

I've never really noticed this bad taste in Stevia products... I feel so odd, I don't know one person who doesn't hate it. I'm perfectly happy to have it, never really do though since I have no problems at all with regular sugar.

Bleugh! The aftertaste of stevia is the worst. I'd totally rather have a bit of sugar or skip the item altogether. Stevia just wrecks everything.

However, I am totally pro-cilantro.

Cilantro is fresh coriander, right? It's delicious, like super-parsely.

I've heard that there is some gene that makes people taste soapiness when they eat coriander. I don't have it. It's delicious. My boyfriend, on the other hand, hates the stuff, so I don't get to use it.

I've had stevia once and once only it tasted of nothing. Five or ten minutes later, it was like someone had dusted my mouth with sweetener. If the sweetness had happened at the same time as the eating, it might have been delicious... but I'll never know.

Whoa. In the US (at least in my experience), coriander refers to the seed and cilantro to the leaves, and I've never heard cilantro referred to as coriander, so I had no idea they were even from the same plant! I feel a little silly now.

Occasionally stevia is okay it it's masked with other things that taste good. Odwalla does something with stevia? Limeade? Where there's mint in it and I think the mint does a good job of hiding that nasty asparagus stevia aftertaste.

Overall though, fork stevia.
