ugh here is another one.
we have a small cafe in the building where i work and a few months ago they did a survey and i know at least me and one other person i worked with complained about the last of veg options.
so now they have really done a great job of mixing in (mostly) vegetarian (rather than vegan) options and highlighting them in green on their menu.

we just got this week's menu and apparently turkey chili is vegetarian :-P

Today's peeve: you know how it's impossible to peel off a single slice from a pack of Tofurky deli slices without ripping it to shreds? That.

Are you talking about the one with cranberries and almonds on it? If so, the dressing also has eggs which I realized after I had already bought it. Stupid TJ's for making me read whether the V means vegan or vegetarian :(

The symbol for vegetarian at TJ's isn't a V, I think its a leaf or branch.

Mr. Shankly, you had me doubting myself, but gaia says it has eggs, so I guess it is their regular mayo. What a weird thing to put on kale! I think.


I do totally have a kale fetish, but it deserves it! Have you tried one? Did you use plenty of dressing and massage it up real good? Wow, they make their own TJ's brand of vegan mayo so you would think they would at least use that on a kale salad. That's fine, their vegan mayo is boring and sad.

Variety! I want more than one sort of sausage/cheese/restaurant (without making my own). I've found nice stuff but it can get a bit tedious.

That drives me nuts! I have fantasies of a vegan deli where I slice my own tofurky and it's perfectly uniform.

Vegan deli! I would totally go to that.

I usually end up using potsticker wrappers.

With tofu pups and tofurky roasts to slice and potato salad...

I want to try some vegan Chinese foods at a restaurant nearby but I really should be avoiding gluten. I haven't eaten Chinese food since pregan days. And the dishes I want to try have seitan. I'm honestly torn between avoiding it, or risking the bloated gut+cramping+diahorrea...

Today's peeve is a happy one, if such a thing exists. Someone shared some Girl Scouts Blueberry Pomegranate Nut clusters at work today and they say "with honey" right on the package. I checked the ingredients because I'm masochistic like that, and whaddya know, not one mention of honey. I read it at least 3 times over: the sweeteners were brown rice syrup and evaporated cane juice.

They were filling and delicious, by the way.

My husband has this "cilantro soap" gene, because he HATES the stuff. We buy loads of it because we have a house rabbit who snarfs it all down. I can take it or leave it - a little bit in with other spices is nice, but too much ... I don't know. One thing I do know is that I never used to like spicy hot foods. Then, I go vegan, and hey presto, I'm wanting more heat.

Can you eat tofu? My fave Chinese place makes General Tso's Tofu just for me, with LOADS of broccoli! It's to die for.

+1 hell yes on General Tso's tofu. I order that every chance I get.

I'm getting to the point where when people ask "What do you eat? Can you eat anything?" I just stare at them. If they think this booty is from mountains of salad alone, they're silly and sorely mistaken. The scary thing is these are people who I've been over this with.

And one more comment about cheese. "But I couldn't live without it!" I forking dare you. I may send out a PSA to my friends.

Those sound amazing. I've never seen Girl Scouts selling anything besides cookies. . . is this a new thing? Or a regional thing?

I'm a newbie but this is something I've already decided I can't worry about. Even if I found vegan meds, the pharmacies are constantly switching suppliers (which is a non-vegan pet peeve of mine) so it would be impossible to stay on it consistently.

Peeve - someone needs to manufacture noochy popcorn (or possibly noochy potato chips) and put it in the vending machine at work. If they dyed the nooch flourescent orange I doubt anyone could tell the difference.

Have you tried Tings yet? If not, I bet you're are going to love them!!!!

Yeah...it's just, to me, pretty gross, to be swallowing all that dead crepe. I'd rather not if I had the option....not that I do!

Tings are noochy vegan Cheetos, basically. Dangerous for me. They're that good.
