Hey y'all! As you know, Hurricane Sandy has created a path of destruction across the North East. While the US starts to react and organize relief efforts, I really wanted to do something here to help out the animals affected by the storm.
Here's what I'm thinking... a vegan cupcake cook-off fundraiser! Who doesn't love friendly competition, vegan outreach, and hellooo, cupcakes?! Here's how it works (or at least, this is how I've done it in the past): We ask everyone we know in town to participate by baking two dozen cupcakes or 48 smaller cupcakes (or more), and we ask for donations from the public to participate in judging. Each participant samples out 1/4 cupcake or one smaller cupcake to the public, and we vote at the end of the event for the winners.
I'm new to Portland, so I'm not sure of a venue yet, but the pod I work in, Nargila Gardens, right off Alberta, could host it if we can't get a place inside.
