So relieved that Mittens and Ryan got sent packing...But, SO bummed about the poor turn out on the ballot propositions here in CA...Looks like no on labeling GMO food and no on repealing the death penalty >:(

I really didn't think the death penalty thing was going anywhere in California, but I'm still very disappointed.

Urgh. The Massachusetts assisted suicide measure is failing. But the medical marijuana initiative is winning? Who are these people who vote for one but not the other?

I couldnt sleep and when I did, I dreamed of Romney being elected. First thing my husband said this morning when I opened my eyes: Obama did it!

So you can have casinos and have gay weddings in MD... Anyone thinking what I'm thinking? Las Vegas style gay wedding chapels anyone? A business opportunity to be had.

It was a night filled with great news except for proposition 37 failing in California ( making it a law to label GMO foods as GMO ).
It seems odd that in the same night voters would choose to fully legalize marijuana in 2 states, but not make truthful food labeling a law.
Well, maybe not that odd, different voters and it isn't about health.
I heard that the food industry put out some heavy FUD telling people food prices would go up.
Still, I can NOT complain:
- no romney - no ryan - Warren won - akin lost - murdoch lost - fully legal marijuana in Colorado - fully legal marijuana in Washington - medical marijuana in Massachuesettes
All of that in one night.

I really don't understand how people voted to not know what's in their food. Like, even if you weren't aware of the proposition beforehand and read about it on the ballot, you would think even the most uneducated, ignorant person would be like 'don't like to me about my tomatoes, gubberment!'

Agreed. I hope to find an analysis of the decision today. Still, it made it to the ballot, it is a big step forward. There will be a next time.

I think a lot of Republicans who could have cared less feigned Taliban style chauvanism in the belief it would curry favor with right wingnuts and buy them votes. I'm sure some were sincere and they simply felt safe enough to vent their spleens in public.
I'm glad Akin and Murdoch lost, if for nothing else, to send a message to the Republicans that there is a price to pay for kicking women as a means of proving how conservative you are.
Last night Akin paid a very high tuition fee for a lesson in female reproductive biology.

Here is the text of Prop 37. Pretty sure some voters who were seeing it for the first time just voted no because it was really dense. http://ballotpedia.org/wiki/index.php/T ... er_2012%29

North Dakota voters handily rejected a measure Tuesday that would have created a felony penalty for malicious cruelty to a dog, cat or horse, but both sides in the contentious struggle vowed to seek changes in state animal cruelty laws at the 2013 Legislature. http://www.thedickinsonpress.com/event/ ... roup/News/Seriously, who looks at a ballot question and goes, "you know, I need the freedom to maliciously hurt an animal." Is North Dakota populated by serial killers?

The Maryland gay marriage and dream act (in state tuition for undocumented immigrants) measures passed, so it's not all bad news on the BMs.

yeah, I was happy that if someone graduated high school in MD, regardless of their citizenship, they can get in-state tuition. In-state tuition isn't exactly cheap still but any little bit helps.
