I ran last night.

Do you paint your fingernails?

Yeah, I just prefer them painted. . . it helps that my roommate has basically every color of nail polish imaginable, so I usually mooch off of her.

Do you live in a house or apartment (or other)?

House! Three story Victorian.

What's your favorite season?

Fall, more specifically the end of it. Christmas decorations are socially acceptable and it's just started to get cold, so I'm not sick of it yet.

How do you feel about kasha/buckwheat groats?

Kasha is comfort food to me. It reminds me of my parents and bubbe.

Do you prefer to be more dressed up or casual in your work setting?

I like to be a bit dressed up. It makes me feel more professional and presentable. Wearing my nice cloths puts my brain in the mindset of focusing and working hard. If I'm wearing casual cloths I feel like it's time to slack off. It's almost totally up to me how I dress for work, so just about whenever I feel like it I can have a casual day, but I don't choose to do that very often.

Do you bake your own bread?

No, but I'd like to start. I haven't done much in the way of vegan baking yet and I think I need to learn more about gluten free options because I don't think I agree with wheat so well anymore.

What's your worst habit?

Picking at scabs until they start bleeding again. . . yeah, I'm pretty gross.

What's your favorite convenience meal?

For cooking at home, a quick-fix shepherd's pie made with mashed potatoes and frozen veggies heated up in a skillet.'

Non-home-cooked: Taco Bell fresco style bean burritos (AFAIK they are vegan! They'd better be, or I am in deep shiitake)

What kind of activism is closest to your heart?

Perfecting non-judgement. Also: harm reduction.

Have you ever slept with the lights on? If so, why?

I did at intervals straight up through high school. Because of where my house is it was pitch black most nights and I was a little afraid of the dark.

Do you eat the same thing for breakfast every morning or do you mix it up?

Mix it up unless I'm on one of my can't-get-enough-oatmeal kicks. Then it's that until I decide I need to eat something else.

What's for lunch today?

Today I was able to visit the BRAND SPANKING NEW Whole Foods where my inlaws live, and their hot food selections consisted of a lot of vegan indian selections, one in particular had faux chicken in it and I doubt my husband would have been able to tell the difference. Plus chana masala, an eggplant thing, coconut curry butternut squash, mmmm.... That was pretty exciting. Paid an arm and a leg for it but..... I don't eat out very often so I went a little crazy!

Are you much of a drinker?

Not much at home usually, but we dig sparkling wine with dinner sometimes. If I'm somewhere that makes exceptionally unique drinks or has a big selection of craft beers, I might over indulge just because of wanting to try so many different things. That's pretty much it, unless it's a special occasion like New Years.

If you don't have much going on in the afternoon, say on a lazy Sunday, and you find that you're a bit sleepy, would you rather drink some coffee/other caffeinated beverage to perk up or take a nap?

Nap! The kitties and I are always up for a nap.

What do you wear to sleep in?

Tee shirt and dark blue pajama bottoms tonight!

How do you feel about chocolate milk?

Meh. I prefer cocoa. The holiday chocolate/mint drinks are nice... But only about once a year.
What talent are you most proud of?

My knee jerk reaction was to say farting, but I'll just go with farting.

Why are people so hung up on taking drugs to have a "spiritual experience?"

Because they are too lazy to work on themselves and get to a spiritual experience through that hard work. Drugs act as shortcut.

Do you wear a watch?

No.

Do you wear jewelry?

Yes, I love the expressive nature of jewelry.


What's your must have pie AND cake for Thanksgiving?

Pecan pie, definitely. I've never had cake on Thanksgiving, but anything pumpkin-y would be a good bet.

How much caffeine do you consume in a typical day?

3-4 cups of coffee in the morning, black tea in the afternoon...and sometimes soda in the evening. So a lot.

Do you listen to music at work?

Unfortunately, we listen to a mix radio station at work- listening to all the same songs from 80's to today, again and again.

What was the last snack you ate?

leftover pizza in my mouth, right now
