I never saw Quantum of Solace because heard it was really bad. If the reviews for Skyfall are good I'm in because I'm a lazy tool and the only way to get me out of my apartment and into a movie theater is with good reviews. Watched a few old Bond movies on NF last week..

the part where Bond goes back to the home he was raised in and sets about preparing for Silver's men was totally Home Alone

I just saw it. It was pretty darn good. I still like the story from Quantum of Solace better, but Javier Bardem is an amazing villain.

I'm not into Bond movies at all (I've only seen the casino one, Boyfriend made me watch it and it totally bored me), but! When we were in Morocco earlier this year we went on a day tour thing and there was one other guy on it- this weird British guy who said he was an actor filming outside Marrakech. Then as the day went on, he started telling us all about how he was the 'second main bad guy' in Skyfall, and telling us these really elaborate stories about his actor life and stuff. He seemed pretty weird, and he gave us his email address at the end of the tour because he wanted Boyfriend to email him some photos. Sure enough, we Googled his name and came up with nothing related to Skyfall, or any other movie ever.
Anyway, we went to see Argo last night and they showed the trailer for Skyfall. I said to Boyfriend, 'bummer, I didn't see our friend in it' and he was all 'man, I didn't even see MOROCCO in it'. I'm pretty sure I'm going to end up being dragged to see this movie, but I'm totally going to make a scene in the cinema if that guy is actually in it. And so ends my pointless story!

It was filmed in Turkey, China, Macau, and the UK. I loved the motorcycle chase across the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul.
They may have filmed something in Morocco though, and called it something else.
I'm going to go see it again next week. I love Bond movies (I have 3 complete sets on DVD and need them all because the old ones have stuff the remastered versions don't because of stupid rights restrictions). QoS and SF aren't as wonderful as CR, but still pretty good. I can't wait for the next one now that they've finished the reboot and we've got Q, M, and <spoiler> back. Eve could turn out to be awesome; will see.
My office CR poster was an earthquake casualty. I need a new frame. Maybe I should replace it with a Skyfall poster.

it was fun. just enough suspension of disbelief required to make it exciting but not eyerollingly unbelievable.

When have Bond movies ever been believable?

Just got back from seeing it - I thought it was great! And Javier Bardem was a truly excellent baddie.

It was fun, but while being something of a 50th birthday party for Bond fans, it came across as a hybrid of Dark Knight and Die Hard 4 more than a bond film.

I loved it! More plot holes that an crochet swim suit but who cares! The weird 60's style scenes in China, the really insane old fashioned bad guy, and man eating lizards. It didn't seem like bond for the lack of women he had, and no big consiricy to take over the world was very un bond like. But I think that was the best bond film to date ever :)

But I think that was the best bond film to date ever :) I went with my boyfriend and his parents, which includes his HK Chinese mother. Her response too all the Hong Kong bit were along the lines of "what is this shiitake?". If they'd filmed it in Macau, it would have been fine apparently, but they sort of combined the two which is a bit like setting something in London and then showing footage of Belfast.

I am so excited for this. I loved Casino Royale but fell asleep during Quantum of Solace. I never thought I would harbor a crush on Daniel Craig but it happened. I love Javier Bardem too, can't wait. I don't think we are going until Friday.
