So I've got in the habit of not putting the name in til I'm ready to send it. Also, I have a tendency to hit reply and start my reply with "Dear Wanker, fork you fork you fork you...." until I've calmed down enough to type them a polite reply, so I generally delete the email address before I start vent-typing. I love my job, can you tell?

It was cold this morning and my floor felt like ice because I'm an asparagus and left my window open all night. Also, cramps. And going to school early and not being able to leave for another 4-5 hours from now. I wanna go home and get my money and get things.

I got home at six pm, figuring I had until bedtime to finish my paper (worth 10% of my grade). Apparently it was due at noon, no late papers accepted. I want to cry, I normally turn papers in early but between work and school I'm just overwhelmed this week.

So it turns out I have teeny tiny cataracts on the backs of the lenses of my eyes. The good news is that now I know why I can't see at night. The bad news is that there may not be any way to treat this kind of cataract. (It's not like "normal" cataracts which are big enough to remove surgically, and I'm a poor candidate for surgery for a number of other reasons.) I'm trying to be really positive and optimistic about it, and the specialist I saw today recommended another specialist who may have more practical experience with low vision adaptations, so...I guess we'll see what happens. But it still sucks and I'm a lot more upset about it than I feel like I'm able to express right now.

I'm sorry, QC. But, you know, eye surgical tech has increased at an astronomical pace. I used to be a total non-candidate for LASIK, but now apparently, I can have it done, it would just cost a fortune.
Not helpful now, but things could be much different in 5 years.

This guy at Trader Joe's keeps commenting on my appearance and stares at me each time I go in. I really do not know what to do to not make it odd...

I keep getting homework and tests back with horrible grades. My teachers' comments seem mean too.

I woke up with cramps. My stomach is one giant cramp and my back has followed suit. And I've got school and work from 10 to 8:30 today. Why body?

I thought that I had been very clear with a person about not wanting to collaborate with them on organizing a project. Now they are contacting me about meeting so we can organize this project together. So I have to have an even more forking direct talk with this person. Besides being totally oblivious, this person is hard to communicate with because they are always demanding something. Also, I have more experience with organizing and this type of project in particular than the other person, and I think they are telling people they are recruiting on my behalf. Which is not true.

I was bringing my lunch back to the office from the store. Two steps from the door, the burrito I bought fell through the bag it was in and exploded.

My grandmother has moved to a home near me, which is a good thing as she was unhappy in her last one for a few reasons. The food here is much better and I am only a ten minute drive away, and her son/my uncle is similarly close. However, when my uncle moved her here, they forgot her TV so she asked me to buy her a new one, she packed virtually nothing and she's too... I don't know if it's scared, proud or self-reliant to ask the staff for things like soap for her bathroom or to have things put in the fridge for her (she asked me to buy her some yoghurt and I can almost guarantee it'll still be on the window sill when I see her on Sunday). I'm concerned that she'll end up never leaving her room or speaking to anyone there because she doesn't want to try new things, like eating in the dining room and not her bedroom. I'm more than happy to run errands for her and do her shopping, but if she just sits in her room all the time not talking to anyone she's going to just disengage from the world entirely and that's not a good thing.

Could you go there and eat dinner with her in the dining room or go with her to socialize? Maybe having a familiar, comfortable face there would help?

Yes, I'm with LW. But also don't pressure her- its a big change and can feel like a big loss of control- so just let her process on her own, with your gentle support.

I'm sorry Gul. I hear similar accounts at work and it's not uncommon. The care team can be really helpful if you make them aware of her not currently being able to ask them for what she wants or needs. They can help to encourage her to join in with activities, accompany her outside if there's a garden to enjoy and to let family know when she's running low on toiletries, clothes or treats.

I don't want to fault the staff at all, all three times I've been they were incredibly friendly and approachable. They, however, don't know her as well as we do so don't know she's being evasive. I'm going to see her on Sunday (if I don't go tomorrow) and I'm going to bring some pot plants and things for her. There were a few yoghurts and things that wanted to go in the fridge that I got for her and if they're still in her room, I'll have a word with them. Food poisoning is a good reason to get shiitake done, methinks. My uncle said he'd give her his old TV, but I she doesn't want it because it's huge (which he selectively didn't listen to) and I don't think it's a digital one so it won't work anyway. She also asked my to buy her a flat screen one, which is a pretty good sign she doesn't want his old huge one. I'm going to phone him tomorrow and stage a polite intervention. She was in a nursing home before this that wasn't really very nice (it turns out) and apparently the staff were a bit useless so she gave up with them. It was also a nursing home rather than supported living, or whatever, so I think they babied her a bit. Moving here is meant to remedy that, among other things. It's all a bit new, though. Early days...

Hope she's on the up very soon.
My worst thing is that Baby Godzilla's Mum's ex boyfriend has started stalking again, after already being cautioned by the police for his behavior towards them. He's using a pseudonym on FB and tried to friend Mr8, who is naturally suspicious and refused. Mum was calling the police this afternoon. We can see that Baby Godzilla has cottoned onto something being wrong. I hope that it's been dealt with and doesn't escalate.

I keep screwing up on little stuff at work, but it's always because I'm doing someone else's job for them. I'm sick of screwing up because other people don't follow through on their freaking deals or don't communicate properly.
