Yes. And don't they visit some weird nerd named Zoltan? I remember being obsessed with that movie when I was like 12, haha.

Yeah, there's a scene where they infiltrate the headquarters of a pseudo-Scientology guru named Zoltan or something like, and everyone is wearing jumpsuits made out of bubble wrap, and then one of the Dudes gets them busted because he can't stop popping the bubble wrap.

No! Stop! Must banish from brain! No more remembering!

Haha, oh yeah, and then they get attacked by ostriches or something!

Ok, no more remembering!

I was on a plane for 7 1/2 hours, so I saw:

Brave - I was hoping for more. It was a bit of a let-down.
Rock of Ages - It was alright. Some of it was a bit silly and OTT, but it was meant to be. The female lead was miscast - her voice was very much pop and not rock - but other than that, it was entertaining.
Dark Shadows - The commercials for this made it look a lot worse than it actually was. It certainly wasn't Tim Burton's best film, but it wasn't as awful as I was expecting.

A few really good movies we watched recently:

Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phantom Flame (Dí Rénjié zhī tōng tiān dìguó - literally: Di Renjie's Heavenly Empire)

forking Åmål (aka Show Me Love)

A Werewolf Boy (Neugdae Sonyeon - Wolf Boy)

Okay, that last one is rather sappy and predictable, and I liked it. See, this is why I'm a terrible critic. I kinda suck at not liking stuff.

I watched the documentary Surviving Progress on Netflix. Highly recommend! It was a bit scary, though, and touched on some ideas that I know will freak people out. Like population control.

I watched an old classic, Love in the afternoon, with Gary Cooper and Audry Hepburn. It was ok, Gary looked at least 50 yrs old and Audry looked about 20. It just seemed a little far fetched, but it had it's moments.

The Help. Loved it. And I'm glad it wasn't violent like so many movies that take in the South during the civil rights movement.
Lost in Translation. I put off watching this one for a while and I'm glad I finally did. But I found the ending incredibly sad. You can't just play happy music and smile and make it a happy ending. And what did he whisper???

^What he whispered was Lost In Translation!

I watched It Happened One Night while cooking last night. It's the kind of movie where, as the opening credits roll, I already get verklempt about what's to come over the next ninety minutes or so, I love it so much.

I was at a movie night at which we watched ParaNorman. It was alright - not the best (kids') movie I've ever seen, but not the worst.

I saw "The Girlfriend Experience." It was all right. It seemed a little light on plot. Sasha Grey was better than I thought she was going to be.

The Sitter. I enjoy Jonah Hill but this movie wasn't very good.

Moonrise Kingdom. Loved it! Wouldn't expect anything less from Wes Anderson.

Yayyy I love when people love it. I'm caught up on all the awardsy movies out so far, but this is my favorite of the year still.

UGH Gaia don't you even get me started. Well you did, so I'll rant. I got back to London TODAY, and the screening I would have gone to is THURSDAY. What great timing I have! Not only that, but my dad got me into the London PREMIERE next week, but I'll be in Myanmar! I mean, of course I'd rather go on this trip 100x over, but come on! I have NOTHING going on at any given time and then the two things I actually do have happen at the same time. Just my luck. Hahaha. :) But anyway, some of my dad's colleagues reported back from the first advanced screenings from late last week and said they all got standing O's. I cannot waaaait. I was so against it, with all the stunt casting and everything, until they announced the live on-set singing. Now I'm geeking out.

Sorry to hit a sore spot, ha ha. But I've been geeking out over this and I figured if I could trust anyone's opinion, it would be yours. So happy to hear it's being well-received.

I tried to make it through Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter but couldn't do it. Funny premise, lame execution.

fork. Gaia, the parents and all their friends reported back from Les Mis :

Spoiler: show
Said it was absolute perfection, could not name a single flaw, and said Anne Hathaway is definitely winning an Oscar, and the movie will prob sweep.

Hey, this is good to know because I've been thinking about watching this because it looks so ridiculous, but I was worried it would be bad ridiculous but sounds like it might actually be fun ridiculous.

I saw it a few weeks ago... it was a lot more fun and enjoyable than I though, and the take on vampires was pretty cool. It is one of those movies that falls in to the category of Very Bad and Very Awesome all at once.
